8,595 15/12/98 Darlington FA Cup
...
Christmas holidays?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
20,000 loyal City fans were struck down with food poisoning cause by a bad batch of advent calendar chocolates.
A further 5,000 chose to stay at home having seen ill omens and portents of doom in the little pictures of drums and angels that their advent calendars revealed to them on that dark day.
The rest just couldn't be bothered.
Oh dear... not done your homework here (hint: rebuilding)
Bulllshit.
Rebuilding what exactly, your image?
8,595 seems a little low, Boris.
What did the ground hold at the time?
8,596.
I admitted before I wasn't there.
24,000 vs Wimbledon looks poor, I'll give you that.
Till you compare it with 8,595 for an FA cup tie.

Now come on, let's give some credit to the 595 City fans who did go. Those 8,000 travelling Darlington fans must have made an intimidating sight.

Jeez, I thought it was 29,000.
Any links to this mythical building work?
No Glory Hunters At The Etihad
Do you reckon they spread the 8595 around the ground or put them in one stand?
Anyway, I've had enough of this. You've well and truly put United supporters in their place about their crap attendances , fair do's
The year you got 24,000 against Wimbledon, you got 46,000 against QPR and your average was something like 38,000.
Was this 'building work' just carried out on that particular weekend?
AFTERWORD
United 5-1 Danish Middlesbrough
Att: 58,609
City 1-2 Spurs
Att: 54,963*
*Debatable, as many empty seats were visible despite 'sell-out' crowd
I was at that game. I got mucking fuddled up with the low attendances when we were developing the Stret and the North Stand... Whoopsie!
There are still 8,595 reasons to cut me a bit of slack on this one

Just looking at the results from that season now, and we'd only scored one goal in the five games before the Wimbledon game -- and that was an own goal by Tony Adams.

If 10,000 people have bought tickets and have to work late that's not city's fault. Enough of the cheap point scoring.

Top man. I used to go to city every now and then with my blue mates from school. I saw Gordon Davies score a hat trick for Fulham against you before you bought him. I always liked Maine Road to be honest with you.
Going to City back then was like going to Church,no one wanted to go but did so out of duty

I went to Billy McNeils first game in charge (Barnsley I think). Some guy you bought from Rangers scored the winner and no one knew if it counted or not, it was only when they bought the pink they found out you won 3-2.
The fckrs never came to Old Trafford mind.
Harsh on Middlesborough as they knocked us out.
So how exactly does dead at the swamp compare to the average attendance at the emptyhad?
Case closed.

Case reopened.
We're talking about empty seats for a critical European game here, not an 'average' match.
Are you still banging on about United's attendance against Midgetland in the Ropey League?
I'm not being funny, Boris, but don't you have a cup final with your own team to talk about, or is that not as interesting?
