And why has language nothing to do with it? Who says so? These people were sent to a safe, allied country by ship, where the same language was spoken. They did not walk through half the world to arrive in the US.

Again, I have repeatedly said it is understandable they wish to come to more affluent countries instead of safe but poorer countries such as Romania, Hungary and Serbia. That however is a choice they are making for quality of life rather than the need to flee those countries due to war. This is when they become economic migrants rather than refugees.

As for the quote from the Hungary PM, I see nothing wrong with it. He is concerned his country could be faced with islamisation if faced with a huge influx of Islamic refugees. You keep saying the definition of a refuge doesn't say they have to stay in the fist country they stay in. That's correct. It does however require them to be fleeing war to be considered refugees. Norway has few people but lots of natural resources.

Eh? Bulgaria and Romania are already members.

Serbia and Albania are yet to meet criteria making them eligible to join. Turkey are years and years away from getting anywhere near meeting the criteria, and, if anything, are probably getting further away at the moment.

Another benefit the EU offers Europe is politicians in those countries that want to join have to work to improve standards for people living in those countries before they can join. This will mean for people living in Albania and Serbia, for example, greater corporate and legislative transparency, better social support mechanisms, fairer judicial systems, and work on equality and disabled rights.

It's not rubbish at all. Romania achieved huge amounts to meet accession requirements, and it's an achievement all of its people can be very proud of.
