The Family who ended up in Germany weren't sent for, they made their own way up.

Glenghis, the point is, both refugees and economic migrants cross the Mediterranean.
Not all the people making their way over the sea are fleeing conflict.
So yes, you have migrants and you have refugees.
A refugee doesn't turn into a migrant in the short term.

Ibrahim is A migrant from Sudan. He had the option to seek asylum in Italy and he chose not to. I'll say that again: He chose not to seek asylum in a safe haven and decided to become a migrant my migrating to France

If the person who wrote that article had used the correct terminology then we wouldn't be having this discussion but there you go.
Céline Schmitt, a French spokesperson for UNHCR has got it wrong.
Not the UN but an individual who appears to think that refugee and migrant are the same thing. If you want to take things up with her, please feel free.
But bear this in mind, most English speaking nations use the OED for their definitions and I would assume that the UN would use it also.
Your whole argument is based on the words of an individual, not the UN as an organisation but an individual, who's first language isn't English.
I'd definitely take the UNHCR's point of view on this rather than someone on a forum.
Just the way it is
I don't know why you keep bringing the German item up. I haven't once claimed that they aren't refugees. I even posted a link to a comment I had made earlier as to why Germany classes them as refugees. Let that go, it's not part of the debate.
Who has OFFICIALLY recognised that Ibrahim is a refugee?

Genghis in your definition there, it is describing what a migrant is.
The OED also has a definition for a refugee.
What made the people leave their home in the first place is the key to applying either one of those.
You, Genghis, and RDD are implying that a refugee becomes a migrant based on the criteria you have selected.
That is your opinion, and not fact, nor is it a sequence recognised by those organisations like UNHCR.
So, apply the reasons why those people left their homes in the first place to the definition and there you will find the correct label to apply.
"Not the UN but an individual who appears to think that refugee and migrant are the same thing. If you want to take things up with her, please feel free."
Who thinks this?
Sorry?
The article never confuses the two, EVER!
In fact if you cycle down and flick through the pictures it carefully labels who is a migrant, refugee or asylum seeker.
It makes clear distinctions,
The article it self is specific to refugees.
It's you manipulation of a persons job description which has caused description.
The article states he is a refugee now get over it.
You are clearly trying (like RDD) to label desperate individuals escaping horrible situations as migrants.
They aren't. Not an opinion. The UN says so.

Everything you have said is speculative.
The peach amongst them, is calling the heading on a UN article click bait like it's the daily mail.

Again the OED has a hint here.
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/migrant
'A person who moves from one place to another in order to find work or better living conditions.'
Are we getting through to you yet.
FFS take that chip off your shoulder and face facts, You are talking bоllоcks
------
Genghis in your definition there, it is describing what a migrant is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a feeling we should just be greatful the majority of people don't think like them.

*** The article (not the heading) states there are migrants and refugees in 'the jungle'. Is this correct? Yes it is.***
In fact if you cycle down and flick through the pictures it carefully labels who is a migrant, refugee or asylum seeker.
*** And nowhere in those pictures does it mention Ibrahim by name ***
The article it self is specific to refugees.
*** No it isn't. The article clearly mentions migrants AND refugees. ***
It's you manipulation of a persons job description which has caused description.
*** Where have I manipulated a person's job description? I haven't so you're just lying to try and back up your story ***
The article states he is a refugee now get over it.
*** It also states migrant. Get over it ***
You are clearly trying (like RDD) to label desperate individuals escaping horrible situations as migrants.
They aren't. Not an opinion. The UN says so.
*** It is an opinion. It is the opinion of Céline Schmitt. If the UN said that a refugee was a pink spotted banana would that be correct? ***
Everything you have said is speculative.
*** No it isn't. Everything I have said about refugees & migrants is is correct and factual as defined in the Oxford English Dictionary ***
