Name those that British people want to keep over having an agreement such as CETA.
-------
I'll throw this back to you as you seem to have a grasp of CETA.
What would the British people benefit from, that they don't do at the moment if we had a CETA type agreement?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Full control over border controls with free trade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say full control over borders.
Part of CETA allows for six months visa free travel for EU citizens to Canada, and vice versa, for the purposes of tourism or work.

In my opinion it should be a softer work permit. The initial emphasis should be on companies to find local workers. I know that it isn't the policy at the moment because thats the feedback I get from my consultants. In fact in Spain for example there is an implicit understanding to give preferential treatment to Spanish companies. I believe these practices are common in most EU countries. UK however practises a far 'freer market' system like the US where global companies take advantage of cheap and exploitative labour which often in turn puts SME British business at a disadvantage compared to their EU counterparts. This doesn't mean that immigration will suddenly fall. I expect it to remain stable. However it will give business and government a better understanding of labour inflows that will allow better planning for services and housing. I also want to see an end to QE and further isolate our finance sector from the Euro contagion. I know ppl find it hard to differentiate between the Eurozone and EU. But I suspect that as the attempts to save the Euro get more desperate, their final solution will be complete union. At that point there will be immense pressure on other countries who do not have the Euro to decide what to do to. I believe whatever solution we finally agree will be the alternative for those who don't want to become the United States of Europe.

Theresa May's first diplomatic mission as PM and, of course, the first of a PM following the Brexit vote.
May: "Morning India. Once we're free of our shackles, we'd very much like to work on a free trade deal with you."
India: "Excellent Mrs May. That is a great idea; we are fully on board. All you'll need to do is treble the number of visas for India citizens wanting to move to the UK."
Inevitable. We have a choice now, EU aside.
We can continue to be a part of the widening freedom of movement we're seeing across the world. Or, whilst Europe, the Americas and Asia welcome the benefits it brings and cash in on the trade deals it allows, we can close our doors, and stay in the 20th century in outlook and quality of life.

I don't understand what you are saying. You cannot get 'right of stay' based on a student Visa. You can on a work permit but only after 4 years of renewals. In that time it is very apparent if you are needed or not. So what has a wish list got to do with anything?

On completion of studies, foreign students can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK.
The Indian Government wants this opening up - more places offered and cheaper applications - to try to encourage more Indian students to apply to UK universities amongst other reasons (the numbers have fallen away very significantly in the near past).
My point is, for those who are saying (not necessarily you) that Britain can significantly curb immigration by leaving the EU whilst forging new free trade deals that will help cushion the massive negative financial impact that Brexit is going to bring, they need to think again.
The future is about free movement. Free movement and free trade go hand in hand. To operate efficiently the latter needs the former.
This is before considering that immigrants per capita contribute more to the economy *and* rely on the state less. They are superior net contributors. They also happen to behave better than native Brits (lower criminal conviction rates) and enrich our cultural lives immeasurably. It would be downright daft for the UK to cut figures.
The Tories know this; that's why they have done and intend to do nothing about immigration figures. All of the main political parties in the UK, barring UKIP, hold the same view.
There has to be a Brexit. The people have spoken and their decision cannot be overturned. But I see no sense in throwing the baby out with the bath water and binning off our incredibly valuable position in the single market just to cull a free movement of people which is also massively, massively valuable to the UK.
People want sovereignty over UK law making back. Fine. That is going to arrive with Brexit. But not all Brexiters wanted Britain to shut up shop to immigrants.
I think we'll see a discussion in Parliament and MPs on all sides make the argument for prioritising access to the single market with whatever else that might require.
