I think some folk just need an ego check. Nobody cares about the UK other than the UK. I suppose America sees us as a faithful lapdog, but that's about it.
Also foolish to say the UK politicians are accountable. We have a majority government where 63% of voters didn't vote for them. With FPTP, there's sod all accountability.
But again it's the British arrogance that because it's our system it must be better; most folk in the UK are simply too dim to understand complexities like different voting systems.
So how many counties do actually matter then considering we are the 5th richest?

not sure what the voting system has to do with voting out the EU.
THOUGH I tend to agree FPTP is rather unfair...
I will laugh when Scotland join the euro and the EU. Sturgeon accuses England and Wales of being backward Nah. England and Wales are looking forward and getting out before the system collapsed
We're also the second most in debt. Claiming to be the fifth richest whilst owing that much money is like shouting about being a millionaire whilst you get your thumbs broken.

You are completely wrong. This kind of misrepresentation is exactly why people voted leave today.
The EU care so little they are already touting for the UK to become an "associate partner". As a net contributor, the obligation now rests on them to fill that hole from increased contributions from the remaining 27 members. Moreover, our exit is seen as a catalyst for other nations to follow. Greece, Italy, Austria, Holland, France will all seek an in/out referendum by their people.
Unaccountability is 5 presidents and 27 other nations voting on our laws and control of UK finances we have no wore on.
The UK FPTP voting system is a robust system where people can hold their local MP accountable and the government as a whole accountable. If you feel you can't' influence the UK government then be sure to vote for independence in the next Scottish referendum coming soon
Duke - because people are claiming leaving the EU is a victory for accountability and democracy. With no desire to change the voting system in the UK or reform the House of Lords, we've done sod all to improve either.
The arguments for leaving the EU would have made a lot more sense had the UK been a decent democracy to begin with.
But then again, had the UK been a decent democracy we probably wouldn't be blaming everything on the EU. Will be interesting to see what happens once the dust settles and people realise that it was the UK Government shafting them all the time... well, if they realise it.

And why are we so far in debt ?
A bloated public sector financing circa 5 million+ people out of work, an over stretched NHS, social housing and schools for example by an ever expanding population at the rate of 330,000 a year. Infrastructure can't keep up with that rate of population increase and the private sector can't finance such a bloated public sector with such a high dependency.
This has all been fueled by negligence of management of the social sector and uncontrolled migration.
The Blairite years tried to plug that public sector black hole by opening up the borders to migrants who they thought would work and add to the income tax pot.
Unfortunately it hasn't quite worked out that way. Migration has strained public services, driven down wages and increased the cost of living such as rent..

Many know exactly how to change it. The solutions in principle are very simple. But
1. There is so much political inertia it can not happen
2. It would be deeply unpopular and be political suicide
3. We are too far entrenched that is almost completely irreversible.

I often believe that very few humans are actually sentient and capable of independent rational thought. The vast majority are drones who speak in much the same way parrots do; they don't even know what they're alive. Unless you're being ultra-ironic, there is no way that Esctosh can possibly be sentient and believe that.
This isn't meant to be an insult, just an observation. Not that it matters really, as you aren't sentient so any insult taken wouldn't be a real emotional response so I don't need to feel bad about it.

See, your reply didn't make any grammatical sense and you don't understand what the word "socialism" means. It's as if you just throw these words together in the hope of making a coherent sentence.
It's also not a left-right thing either, as there are plenty on all sides who are drones.
The market was already improving as the day went on. It shot down this morning as they all bet on us remaining in the EU and when we voted.out quite alot of them lost millions maybe even billions in the space of a few hours.
