So many spurs fans on here belittling the league cup when it's the only trophy they've won in the last 25 years

I don't mind Liverpool either

Rather see them do well than most of our other rivals.

But we've got more money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then you should have been more successful. You haven't been.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No?

Last 7 years.

Highest league placing: Liverpool
Most points: Liverpool
Most Trophies: Liverpool

I'm sure you're right though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've been in 4 finals in that time and lost 3. The won you won was against Cardiff who any PL club could have beaten. You could almost count Slippery Stevie Season as another cup lost.

That isn't that successful. Together with two 8th place finishes and a 7th place finish. Or is it two of those?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No it isn't successful...... to LFC.

That's the difference.

What's the difference? we wouldn't call it successful either.

The thing abotu cup finals is the journey to get there can be good, I loved our run to the Europa final last year, beat united well (that Couthino goal The mad games v dortmundm really good v Villareal.

Losing the final sucked and all but still had some great nights along the way especially Dortmund at home where I backed us at 1-3 down to go through at 33/1

The comments are sad, really sad.

Neither club really have much bragging rights for anything. League cup aside, neither have won anything for 10 years. The occasional league challenge and a few CL appearances here is the best either can muster.

I'll commend Spurs on their consistent climb year on year whilst not spending the amounts that the big boys are doing. Certainly in the last decade they've been better than us.

Truth is both clubs aren't miles off each other, I'm excited by this season to see what both clubs produce under their young exciting managers and squad. I hope we both make top 4.

The point scoring is ridiculously petty. It's not banter anymore it's borderline childish. Just enjoy the competition because this season is going to be exciting in the race for top 4.

Klopps lost 5 finals on the trot.....no wonder you lot love him if losing a final is viewed as a greater achievement than ending a season 3rd.

Wigan and Pompey have won bigger trophies than both of us in the last 10.

When you going to answer my question....what would you prefer this season....

- losing finals and 8th, no Europe
- Title tilt, 3rd place, Champions League

Claerly this game is the perfect opportunity to settle the debate, Liverpool have beaten Spurs in the majority of league games in the past few years yet have finished behind Spurs in the league, but Liverpool have reached 4 finals in this period winning one, Spurs haven't managed to reach one.

So taking all the above into consideration a 4th round EFL tie is the perfect game to finally resolve this, then we can all be mates again and gang up on some other club.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs reached the League Cup final the year before you (Poch first season, losing to Chelsea)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah I added I a follow up post to this saying the same, I'd forgotten about that final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just proves you are doing a Spurs.

Sell best player for millions
Waste the money
Sack the manager
Find a brilliant manager
Year 1- Average, leak goals, glimpses of promise, lost cup final(s)
Year 2 - Much improved, top 4
Year 3 - ???

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree I said something similar before whereby we are following a similar path to Spurs in terms of finding a good manager, allwoing him time to get his methods instilled in the squad, get his own players etc. You expect bumps along the way but have a clear vision as to where the team is going.

I expect Spurs to be a more settled team than us as Poch has been there longee than Klopp, Klopp was luck in a way that he got the rest of the league campaingn last season to get used to the PL, he got next to no criticism for some poor perfomances, all a learning curve, not many managers get that chance, also the run the the Europa final took away from the elague and the inconsistent performances

Spurs spend per trophy is one of the worst in Europe.

It currently stands at £343,350,000 per trophy

That's not just double Liverpools - But Triple !!!!!!!!

They seem to avoid that question or turn it around saying that reaching finals is surely better, when the choice is reaching finals and losing.

Yey....Liverpool win the "We have a better Spend per Trophy than Spurs" Trophy .

Add it to the "We lost more finals than Spurs in the last 7 years trophy" that you lot also seem to be celebrating...

and lets not forget the "we beat Spurs U23s" trophy .

All big achievements for LFC, a club and fans with such loft aspirations.

Come on! show some class!

A poor attempt to sweep the most damning stat under the carpet.

This tells us who wins more silverware... Liverpool

It tells us who wastes the most money ... Tottenham

It basically ends this thread with a knockout blow for everyone associated with Tottenham Football Club
