Have you read that back to yourself?
The referendum was for Brexit. You're suggesting that the debate was only to see if the electorate should have the overall say.
That debate can't proceed unless people know the context .. Which was ... Drumroll ....

Did you just read one comment, misunderstand it and then tried to put words into my mouth. Have a wee read of the few comments prior and get a sense of context.

The European Communities Act 1972 which took the UK into the EU is (by it’s very title) an Act of parliament.
It states “Order in Council has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.”
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1972/68/section/1
To therefore rescind this Act it has to be approved by parliament. The subsequent outrage from those unhappy with the Court decision, last week is either politically motivated or ignorance.
After Farage's comments around the people being very angry if Brexit is blocked, how do you think this would actually manifest itself?

Angry comments on Twitter and the Mail.
I understand (after suggesting riots) Farage is now trying to assemble a mass public protest.

Are you serious? having a debate in parliament to see if we should ask the public should we stay or leave the EU is not the same as having a debate on HOW we leave the EU.

before the referendum, they voted on having a referendum and the british public having the final word, voted 6 to 1.................

Standard Brexiter.
Not a clue.
With all the nonsense surrounding the court case many people have disregarded the fact that if A50 is not invoked by an act of parliament, it would not be legally binding.
The ruling will ensure Brexit is lawfully robust should there be a challenge further down the line.
Stuart.
I really don't get what the furore is, it took an act of parliament to join the EEC, it surely has to take an act of parliament to leave.
Farage the rabble rouser, loves democracy when it works in his favour and threatens the peace when it slows down his lifes work.

I watched Farage on the Andrew Marr show yesterday. It was cringe worthy.
Farage is not a fool however. He knows that creating as much protest as possible will ensure Ukip remain ‘relevant’
He also has conceded that the UK will be a poorer nation. But (for him) the costs or economic strain will be worth it.
It's also shameful that he continues to claim his MEP salary (at taxpayer's expense) despite, in his words “leaving the political scene.”

you say not a clue but no one can respond to this, would we be going back to parliament if the decision had been to stay? just to make sure we are all agreed on how we would stay and the terms and conditions, no.

More likely, yes. If you think Farage & Co would have just pottered off with a "Fair enough", you're mad - bloke's a born moaner.

come on, it would have been swept under the carpet by now as a subject and you know it, sore losers
If the UK decided to remain any alteration(s) in regard to our EU membership would have to be agreed by the EU parliament.
Just like a decision to leave has to be formally agreed by the UK parliament.

Parliament formally agreed 6 to 1 prior to the referendum being held and the only reason they are sticking their necks back in is because we voted to leave. A minor disruption in leaving the EU.
