2 Tory MPs have resigned in the past few weeks over decisions its leaders have made.

A party in disarray.

^ Like them all for reasons unique to each respective party.

British mainstream Politics is currently in crisis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

dont know about landslide, depending on what you mean and how our system works BUT i do think tories are in power for the unforseeable future and will easily win any elections

The main reason being the SNP and their rise and taking labour seats. No other party, bar labour was in the competition and labour are not winning anything anytime soon regardless of who their leader is

parties like UKIP may get more votes but not enough to challenge

Metro

Thought it better continuing on this thread.

I first found out about Parliament’s requirement to invoke A50 a few days after the referendum (below is quite lengthy but is a good read):

https://ukconstitutionallaw.org/2016/06/27/nick-barber-tom-hickman-and-jeff-king-pulling-the-article-50-trigger-parliaments-indispensable-role/

Since then there has been pretty much universal agreement amongst the legal profession that, as the referendum had no legal significance, Parliament has to be consulted. This was also conceded by Farage last Sunday on the Andrew Marr show.

This however (as I understand you voted leave) does not alter the UK leaving the EU. It simply ensures it is lawful.

I understand the government’s case, (citing the royal prerogative) was so weak, the High Court dismissed their challenge very early in proceedings.

The UK constitution is in good health.

The problem was that the Referendum was not legally binding, and that the question on the ballot was fundamentally flawed in the first place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think it is as simple as that. The referendum was not legally binding because parliament is sovereign. In the same way the 1975 referendum was advisory but the result was the opposite. It is because of the nature of our constitution as I said before.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mentioned this earlier. The UK's ascension to the EU was via an Act of Parliament.

The referendum was advisory. Therefore to ensure brexit is lawful A50 has to be invoked by an act of Parliament.

Which is why the High Court (and I expect Supreme) made the ruling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

either way the end result will still be us leaving the EU whether you like it or not.

I'm all for the tories calling a general election soon.. which they would win with a landslide and then making new legislation on the high court and their power.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You my friend are a complete buffoon, yes the country will leave the EU. But this is not a disruption, for constantly say we will still leave means nothing as we all know. If an act of parliament joined us in the EU it should do so the opposite. Very few here, are saying we won't leave. What we are saying is we shouldn't or at very least have access to the SM.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

well you would say that, i can guarantee you that we would not be talking about it being an advisory referendum if we had voted to stay, a minor disruption before we leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're a total moron.

Leaving will have a huge impact on Britain, staying wouldn't have. Therefore it's pretty clear why this needs to be debated at length.

Only pure morons voted for Brexit - hopefully our politicians will do what's right and not just appeal to a bunch of lowlife degenerate xenophobes like yourself.

ah okay, back to the branding of 17.3 million people and I'm a moronhow thick....

The 'debate' that just keeps giving.

Now we're nearing the official start of the 'festive season', which is now traditionally heralded by the 1st TV broadcast of a department store's annual *mawkish sobfest / heartwarmingly delightful / cynically manipulative / wonderfully creative / vomit-inducing overly-sentimental / commercially exploitative advert,

I wonder what a Post-Brexit Vote / Pre-Brexit Interregnum Christmas will be like for all you breximistics???

Clearly you have!

Like I wrote before, constantly saying "it is only a minor disruption before we leave" means jack! we will leave but the debate is about brexiteers constantly branding anything to do with remain as remoaners. NO moaning here. But a sensible debate on the latest standing which happens to be the court ruling of it being passed through parliament first. Which make sense because they sent us in to EU so they should do the opposite. This is not moaning but legalising brexit.
