England v India thread

There have been a few tests in this series where England have batted alright 1st innings and scored 400 but India have always responded and taken big first innings leads.

Thats for two reasons.. the pace of the pitch as completely died a death and Englands spinners haven't been good enough.

What an innings by nair. This is exactly what you need to do. When given an opportunity like this, to cash it in. Just imagine all those chances we gave rohit went to these Rahul and nair.

It will be icing on the cake if we manage to win now. This pitch is way too flat for a result, but you never know what pressure can do. Kohli should literally keep an attacking field for the whole day. Nothing to lose. There should be only 1/2 standing in the boundary.

The one dayers should be very interesting now. I think eng will win it. Our one day team is a joke, we depend on kohli and our openers. The rest are pretty much clueless. And serious questions need to be asked if dhoni struggles at the bottom. He has been chewing up way too many deliveries

Root gone, on review....

Root been a major disappointment in this series. Clearly has a mental issues when in 70s and 80s and when England need him to stick it out well he doesn't.

Bairstow gone. Brilliant catch by Jadeja.

That was a cracker of a catch from Jadeja. Surely England can't lose this came on this pitch.

more like 'surely England can't save this test on this pitch'

Cook has been far worse than root - jadeja had him in his back pocket all series.

Wow, didn't expect England to be 6 down. What on earth are they doing? Great from India

Not sure why you're having a pop at Root?

Averaged 50 this series and scored either a half century or century in every game.

1 century and 4 half centuries isn't a bad return is it now... yes he's not in the best nick he could be but you're forgetting England have been up against it in just about every innings.

How did Kohli get on in roles reversed a few years ago...?

Who's having a go at Root?!

Some of the pitches in this series have been roads. England unfortunately haven't really cashed in. They have come into matches with the mindset that 400 will be enough. And it would certainly have been enough if the pitches were turning

I made the initial point about Root.

His stats are decent but when you are billed the best batsman in the world he does go missing when a crisis needs to be averted. How many times in his career has he saved a game or won a game when the odds were against him?

Despite his last childish sentence, I agree with Serial with the fact that he has done a good job. Just because you're billed as the best batsmen in the world does not mean you have to perform each and every time.

Well done India. Very poor indeed from England.

I'm generally not one for personal milestones but I think they may as well bat on. I do not see a result here whatsoever. Without sounding o harsh on the player, if Rahul can get 199 I do not see the likes of Cook or Root capitulating. As bad as Englands batting has been in this series I do not see them crumbling on a pitch like this.

Totally embarrassing.

Too many excuses have been coming out rather than looking at the real problems. Always the same story.

These pitches don't suit us. Wait until you come to England.

We lost the toss, that's why we lost the match.

We drew a test at least we didn't get whitewashed.

These pitches are too easy to bat on, that's why Indian batsman are doing well (even though none of our batsman could even make a fifty today)

Every team struggles away from home.

Until the final comment will eventually come out of pure desperation:

We only care about the Ashes.
