I'm just waiting for Barry to state that paying Lingard £100k a week proves United are the best team in the country, the fact no one else would or could pay him that only goes to prove that United and only United can attract the very best/ worst players with massive wages

That is a very good Barry post.

I'll take that as a huge compliment

Football is becoming obscene man. We're paying the likes of Bellerin 100k a week too. Farce.

He's been very inconsistent though, a few good games here and there. Martial was at least top class last season, Lingard is older and hasn't replicated any sort of form similar to him.

I saw this on another thread and it gobsmacked me. Someone else bigging up Mkhi and Martial, whilst labelling Rashford and Lingard as inconsistent?!

Rashford and Lingard have given 6 or 7 out of ten just about every time they've played this season.

Mkhi and Martial have given 4/5 or 8 out of ten just about every time they've played.

If there's inconsistency in our forwards, it's with Mkhi and Martial.

People also have to take into account the new TV deal and transfer value when they consider new contracts.

The PL has just won the lottery. And the club will fork out because as a young English player, his market valuations will be inflated by cash rich potential buyers elsewhere in the PL desperate for homegrown players.

Transfermarkt have his value at £8m with a year left on his contract. As soon as he re-signs, I bet that value will treble.

Anyway... unconfirmed, crazy wages aside... I will be happy if this turns out to be true.. Good squad player who gives his all and is a red, who has been with us since he was a little lad.... Pops up with the odd, important goal and seems to be lively around the dressing room and choreography studio.

and as VC said... It will blow Stretty's fuse, which is worth £10k per week alone.

His agent will say he is a full international approaching his prime.

was expecting a thread berating the player, and was all set to sing his praises and say that i was glad he is extending his contract.

but pinch of salt or not, that looks like a very punchy wage. if true, you would have to query - again - the negotiators at the club, surely if he's on £30k a week you offer him £60k and expect him to be happy with that, not treble it as if your prize asset is about to walk out the door?

oh, and ashley young's salary should never - repeat, never - be used as any sort of benchmark for others' wages.

If the reports are correct, he'll still be on less than half of Rooney's wage, less than half of what Schweiny was on, a third of Pogba's wage ( ), and less than Young, Mkhi, Mata, Ibra or De Gea.

Plus he'll have a bigger resale value than any of those players barring Pogba, De Gea and Mkhi.

Even giving him a new contract let alone on that money is statement enough. This club is happy with mediocrity. 🤷🏻‍♂️

After all the good the club have done with getting deadwood off the wage bill they go and do this

posted on 6/4/17

This will be the norm. As said above the money floating about in the premier league has reached new levels so it has to go somewhere and be shared out, and no they won't reduce ticket prices anytime soon.

Also say we end up selling Lingard in the future, what club would be mad enough to equal that wage for him as well? It's crazy.

No one.

We'll be stuck with him like we are with young.

I did say this would send Stretty over the edge.

Nah Young will be off this summer, he nearly moved to china in the January window I think.

We'll see. If he was gonna go he would have

Nah. Clubs like West Ham or Stoke will take him off your hands. Non top 4 clubs get about 100m in TV money now.

What an absolute joke. 100k a week for a bloke who runs around a lot. He has shown how bloody average he is in our last 2 home games.
We will be paying roughly 2.5m a month on young, Rooney, lingard and Fellaini. Just let that sink in. That's over 30m a yr on that dross. Whoever sorts out our deals and wages need fecking shooting. We get done dry every bloody time

Rooney and Young will be off this summer I think. I sort of understand why we can afford to pay Lingard that much seeing as we have already let go a few high earners.

He was our best player against WBA, you clown... God knows how you rated the likes of Martial and Mkhi, if you thought Lingard was average.

Best player!!!!
Yeah because he created......oh yeah feck all
He scored.......oh yeah feck all

Everyone was Sheite against west Brom as was he. He was also dross against Everton. Will he get dropped like Mkhi did because of a poor performance? No probably not. The lad is average

posted on 6/4/17

£100k for Lingard. This ranks up there with what we were paying Welbeck and Young, in fact it's probably worse.

Yea, that';s the only way to tell who the best player is

If you thought he was sheite against west brom, you clearly only watch football via the medium of ceefax or the match thread, so no point chatting any further with you.

.............................

I wouldn't have had any of our midfield or attack as clear 'best players'. I would say Young and Valencia were as good as anyone else.
