De Gea saying Spain ‘fūcked’ up

posted on 2/7/18

I hate that tiki-taka phrase tbh but be that as it may, City still play a predominantly possession and positional game allied with some steel.

The beauty of the club game, is that you can go and get the right players to suit said style as opposed to the Intl game.

Spain under L.Aragones were sexy to watch. Under Del Bosque and quasi Pep ( barca by Proxy) were negative and dull.

That kind of language is fairly common in Spain. We're refreshingly free of the hypocritical prudishness of the UK media.

Yup, fully agreed. And it got progressively worse as it went on.

You cannot build a system that relies heavily on Xavi, and to a lesser extent, Iniesta and expect it to yield the same results once these players are no longer at their best or in the side. It’s criminal that Spain haven’t noted that the players they currently have all excel in a far more direct style of play. They have to players to play possession football, but not to the standard they once did. And the thing about Spain when they had Xavi and Iniesta was they had the ability to completely change up the pace of the play to hurt teams then revert to type as a means of defending leads, this team doesn’t have that capability.

They’ve become more of a slave to the style than Barca have. Even Barca have changed tact as they could see it was becoming ineffective in the CL once Xavi and Iniesta declined.

Good comment, Daz.

Love how people getting their knickers in such a twist over Neymars wumming renders them completely unable to enjoy his football.

Such high-horsed hypocrites.

I love Neymar, but he needs to stop this play acting it’s embarrassing. I hate Suarez for similar reasons, though he’s a biting, cheating racist and played for Liverpool so it’s not even comparable to Neymar’s caaantishness.

posted on 2/7/18

It's embarrassing and he's definitely not doing himself any favours, but every single time, people react as if they'd just woken up and found they've had a second scr*tum attached to their chins.

It’s funny when so many of them are Liverpool fans when they cult worshipped Suarez.

Tbh It's irritating and embarrassing.

Perhaps it is a cultural thing, where subterfuge is somewhat condoned, even praised whilst we, in our naive way want the game to be played a certain way ( hence, why we lose) - though I agree that Brits are hypocrites in this arena.

If Diver Alli or Trippy Kane employed these dark arts and overall wumming and won us the thing, no one would scream murder.

Let's not forget the ghost goal of 1966.

Neymar, like Suarez, CR etc won't change though. No matter how many times people vent, it is part of their game so no need popping an artery over it.

Maybe we need our players to be bigger khunts! Alli is certainly on the way

Can you Imagine Neymar plying his trade in the epl ?

It's not even naivety. Ever seen that Vinny Jones "Hard Men of Football" film?

The English/British have been more than happy to use all sorts of underhand spoiling tactics for donkeys' years, just not those that can be outwardly conceived to be 'girly'. The cheat as much as they can, but only 'manly' cheating is considered fair game.

I really hope to see Brazil vs Belgium and Neymar vs Hazard.

Hazard is a tricky player but he doesn't resort to 90 percent of the nonsense Neymar is known far.

posted on 2/7/18

It is naivety, just watching any CL game or compare El Clasico to United vs City, it is night and day. We are Kindergarten level compared to you guys, who have Phd in the stuff.

The 'girly' thing is a microcosm of the game today. 'Manly' cheating in what is a 'girly' game is not particularly effective.

Ye I'm so pro-Neymar about this all.

Oh no, 20% of the record breaking amount of fouls set out to injure him he reacts to way OTT to try and take an advantage and not get injured. God forbid.

posted on 2/7/18

Neymar goes a bit overboard, but can see why he does it, otherwise he wouldn’t get the protection from the ref.

posted on 2/7/18

Otherwise he wouldn't play for half his career.

The ones who are genuinely bad for it are Pepe (obvs)

posted on 2/7/18

Ha, and Hazard? Hazard gets worse treatment in the more physical PL and he does faff about but nowhere near Neymar. I have watched Neymar a lot, near-on a decade, he is just disagreeable. Not in the Suarez/Pepe/ Costa/Ramos levels but he is a disagreeable character.

Neymar gets plenty protection and he is such a marvellously gifted player that being a twunt just isn't agreeable.

posted on 2/7/18

I don't really like Neymar either but its not for his antics, more just he seems a very self-involved bloke.

I'd also argue that about Hazard, statistically Neymar has always been fouled way more and the types of tackle he endure are often softer in my opinion. Due to his playing style it is often 'body fouls' as his close control limits the amount of times players run directly at him for a big hit*

*unless you are Eric Dier

Neymar and Hazard are both different characters. Though I think Neymar is more talented, but Hazard has adapted his style to the physical side of the epl. Neymar though, I am not sure he will without throwing tantrums each time a player breathes down his neck

posted on 2/7/18

I actually think it is to Hazards detriment that he probably isn't as keen to do the shady stuff

Chelsea or the board ?

They’ll probably stick with Conte now and back him.
