That is true, to an extent. But there are many players that play in midfield in top leagues that don’t quite have those attributes. I think he has those attributes anyway. So I get why people push the midfield thing with him.
Until he does play there regularly, it’s hard to judge him. But I think it’s a silly thing to push, he’s so good as a right back that it’s pointless retraining him in another position.

He could probably do a job there but I don’t think he would excel in midfield. What makes Trent so dangerous is his passing ability in the space fullbacks get given.

Yup exactly this. It’s a lot easier to pick a ball when you have the field in front of you

Any good ones? I can’t really think of any unless they play purely as a Kante or Ndidi etc. It’s why Peak Dier was never that great as a midfielder - good passing range back then but was so easily pressed
Pogba’s the obvious one. I’d actually say that having those attributes is quite rare in a lot of midfielders. It’s why so many midfielders are grafters rather than technicians. Thinking about it more, it does make sense why so many would want Trent in midfield.
Dier was always rubbish on the ball. Trent is one of the most technically gifted footballers on the planet.
not a terrible result
we still have a chance next wednesday to get to the final
Could have been worse given the performance. You’ll need Ramos back to score the winner.
zidane made a mistake with his team formation/selection for the 1st half
marcelo is far to much of a liability to play in CL semi final these days
Chelsea will be kicking themselves. Game nicely poised for second leg.
If anyone had told me back in November that come the end of April we'd still be in with a shout of making the CL final and winning La Liga I'd have laughed them out of town. Still more likely to end the season potless than not though.
Yeah I don’t think you looked comfortable with that set up. In fairness to Marcelo, I don’t think he had a bad game.
Marcelo is OUT for the 2nd leg against Chelsea, after being randomy elected at a Madrid polling station. @AranchaMOBILE #rmalive

Flo pulling some strings there
Barcelona lost at home to Granada!?!
Roma must absolutely facking loathe playing us.
Said similar on the live thread.
I think that second half was the best football we’ve played under Ole. Really enjoyed that performance.
Yeah it was excellent.
In terms of a performance I think it's up there with City at the Etihad last season when we looked devastating every time we went forward.
It's infuriating though why we look so disjointed and laborious in comparison in the first half of so many games.
I guess it’s better to start bad and finish well, rather than the opposite. Look at Spurs.
We really should be winning this competition now. Hopefully Villarreal go through, I’d prefer to play them but if we do lose it’d be really grate for a club like that to win a European trophy.
Yeah but it's surely not possible to continue doing it at the same rate going forward.
In the Premier League I think there's a significant gap between us and the next best team when it comes to picking up points from losing positions.
It's a bit like our results against the big sides last season, you'd expect it to level out at some point.
If we play Villarreal it'll be 0-0 and penalties.
When you were top of the league Daz, I remember you saying that even if you won it, you'd still want Ole to be replaced by a better manager.
I couldn't understand that thinking at the time.
But having had to endure Arteta's dreadful squad and game management for the entire season, I get it.
Even if he somehow flukes past the EL semis, and then we somehow beat you in the final, we should replace him. I haven't seen anything from him that makes me believe he should be Arsenal manager.
I've said this on the Arsenal board as well, but no matter how this season ends, I want Arteta gone. He's out of his depth and is too often relying on Saka every week to bail him out.
His decision-making is amongst the worst I've ever seen.
Yeah you’d think so. It’s weird, because we rarely came from behind to win games until this season, now we do it every other week. I’d take a 0-0 and pens against them right now. Winning trophies on pens is the best thing in football.
La Liga title race is grate. Three points between the top four. I really want it to go to a four way head to head.
