Have you guys seen Snowpiercer? That's honestly up there with the best. No one I know has seen it despite my attempts to persuade them to watch. Such a good film.

Just seen the new one. Excellent. 👍

New what? Blade runner? Think you had to be a mega si fi nerd to get it and I am not that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

😂

Not in the slightest am I that.

Just a thought it was an excellent film and a decent plot with good acting and brilliant action scenes.

Not sure what anyone expected from an update on the Bladerunner movie but I thought it was done well.

It was too long, slow, confusing and boring

Solaris

Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris.
Not only my favourite science fiction film of all time but possibly my favourite film of alltime fullstop.
The theme of regret and being burdened with a tragic past which then manifest itself in physical human form on board a space station orbitting this bizarre, dreamy planet called Solaris is,for me atleast,a terryfying thought.

Tarko himself didnt think highly of the film but it hasn't stopped it being a classic.

Fritz Lang's Metropolis, without it we wouldn't have Phillip.K.Dicks Do Android Dream Of Electric Sheep and inturn we wouldn't have Blade Runner which then went on to spawn other interesting films, books and comics.Domino effect of creativety.

2001: A Space Odyssey visually outstanding film with grand themes.
Yes some could argue, like most of Kubrick's work, minor Dr Strangelove, that his films are cold and stoic and lacking in emotion but his films are always engaging primarily because of the ideas and thier execution.

Obviously we cant forget about Georges Méliès fantastical Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon).
Though more fiction than fact the execution of the film and its important cultural standing,a image of the Moon being facially damaged by rocket ship, will not be forgotten.
Glorious short film that encapsulates the magic of creativity.

Snowpiercer is a enjoyable film.
Interesting concept of dictarship and social class/standing on a Train in a post apocalyptic future.
Arguably Chris Evans most rounded performance too.

BR2049 isn't going to win everyone over, much like the original in that respect but I loved every moment of 2049.
It cant be emphasised enough to how beautiful the film is.
Through its cinematography, set design and the expertly handled use of CGI (take note hollywood).
The story is comfortably more stronger than the original too.It delves into the themes while expanding new ideas.

Its not without it slight flaws. I felt Leto,Buastita were underused and Gosling was alittle stiff, though people will naturally comeback and say 'well,he is a replicant. That's the intention' and they're right with that I guess.
Luv,though Hoeks performance was brilliant,I felt she become alittle too villainous as the film wore on.
Her character wouldn't look out of place in a goofy comic-book movie.Needed to be more natural which would've fitted in more smoothly with the rest of the films tone.

I had no issue with the running time.People who do,well that's their problem not the films.Deal with it.

Haven't seen Tarkovsky's Solaris, only the remake.

Went to see Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' at the Watershed a year back. It sounded brilliant from the plot and the write-up, but it was god-awful. Just boring, pseudo-philosophical drivel provided in long expository scenes.

However, I reckon I still give the original Solaris a chance. The remake was good; I liked the soundtrack and it did provide a huge feeling of melancholy.

Ex Machina wasn't underrated, got very good reviews.
It just had a small advertising budget and thus it seemed to go under the radar for the majority of people, abit like Under The Skin which was/is also a great piece of science fiction.

Stalker is a great filmSo I strongly disagree that it's 'boring'.

Can't beat 2001 in my view; it's the epic scale of the thing. For me, it really does tap into some Jungian archetypes. It would've been absolutely mind-blowing when it was released.

I know it's not sci-fi, but I cannot stand Dr Strangelove. I find it unfunny and obvious. Can barely believe it was made by the same director. It's not much cop as satire, either. Sellers was awful in it (btw, 'The Life and Death of Peter Sellers' is excellent).

I love the original Blade Runner and I don't expect the new one will be as good, but I was confident it was going to be good (based on critics) when I heard what director was involved. Had it been Ridley Scott I wouldn't have been confident at all.
