I am disillusioned with Qatar but not for the reasons you mentioned biggish. Sports and politics should be kept seperate, but Qatar are not a footballing nation and the climate will make for poor showing.

Russia i am very much looking forward to and im crossing my fingers wales will be there

Russia have to reign in their hooligans, some who have political connections in the country. I'm sure they will. Home turf, wouldn't want to look weak and unable to control their people.

If you are not bothered about democracy, then i can understand that view.

Qatar has all kinds of challenges that makes its ability to host a successful tournament highly dubious, but not sure why anyone would have a problem with Russia, tbh. It's not the Cold War anymore, and even if it was, it'd still be a tad silly.

What does democracy have to do with football or sports? You're basically insinuating that any country outside the pockets of Western civilization in North America, Western Europe, Australia/NZ, a few OECD countries shouldn't get to host a damn football tournament.

Well said Sherriff.

Well, I am not looking forward to the next two Wcs!

Both won through dubious process with shed loads of cash being exchanging hands with various unscrupulous members of FIFA.

The Russian WC will have some nice tottys but footballing wise, I don't hold much hope.

The Qatar one WC is going to turn into a real farce.

Probably either gets changed to another country at the last minute or Qatar FC will build the most advanced cooling system in the world to stage it.

All in all, spending huge and I mean in the trillions of term, obscene money for the honor of being a host!

I'm not sure how hosting the World Cup in Russia affects the football in anyway., tbh. Is there any country who have hosted a global event since Germany 2006 WC that doesn't get you snobby brits whining interminably? Toxic air was supposed to suffocate everyone in Beijing (along with all the other canards about democracy, human rights....blah blah...). Stab-proof vests were getting sold in the UK for the South Africa WC, seeing as they're all savages there who would stab you right at the airport and make off with your purse/wallet. Skin-head gangs and naazis were then supposed to lynch some non-whites during the 2012 /Ukraine Euros. Gangsters were supposed to kill us all in the 2014 Brazil World Cup. The Sochi Winter Olympics had the same hackneyed caricatures about Russia etc...

Maybe you need to ease up and just watch the sports.

The World Cup is much more than just football or sports. It is a massive global televised event endorsed by the biggest corporations and senior political figures across the world. The key word here is endorsed and for me personally, such an endorsement should demand a certain minimum set of standards.

The same corporations are quick enough to remove their sponsorship of a professional sports playing individual who says the wrong thing in a press conference, but when it comes to issues like serious breach of civil liberties on a state or national scale it doesn't matter.

Likewise with politicians.

You mean the one where Russia admitted to implementing a state approved doping scheme.

As far as I' concerned, it's just a damn football tourney. All hundreds of millions to billions of people care about is the sporting competition. What if many people think that countries like the US and the sycophantic Ameri-philes like the UK government who support them in foreign invasions shouldn't get to host tournaments? Where do you draw the line at politicizing events?

I'm talking about their ability to organize a tournament and all the fear-mongering devoted to undercutting their efforts. What does their doping violations have to do with that? That's a separate issue.

Get off of your high horse. How many human rights did your country thought of while bombing women and children in Iraq, Libya etc. How much does your country think of human lives when being the second biggest exporter of weapons in the world to countries like Saudi that are massacering yamenis and Burma ethnically cleansing their country. You're living in a palace made of glass don't throw Stones at others. Keep sports and politics separate, Our lives and conscious has been destroyed by politics and sports specially football is an escape from it. It's something that's above politics and brings people of all the world together. Keep your outdated propaganda influenced ideas to yourself

Are you really suggesting that a deliberate and carefully planned state sponsored corruption by the host nation of a major global sporting event has nothing to do with that country's ability or right to stage such events?
