It’s a very dangerous time for parents for all of these reasons we are listing. Very hard for parents to control exposure to all of this.

But it was ever thus. The same arguments were made about Elvis Presley or the Rolling Stones. The real core root causes of the manifestation of these issues, for me, are;

- poorly informed and equipped parents (support for parents on how to approach such topics should be sent to all parents in the UK),
- disengaged parents (through work, lack of confident [per previous point] or a general lack of interest),
- schoolyard bullying (which has come on leaps and bounds but tracks behind the “how” bullying happens as always, and on bullying it continues to be a stain on the UK government that a minister found to be a bully is still in their role)
- lack of teachers suitably equipped to deal with the issues.
- lack of resources for extra-curricular activities with funding for such activities reduced.

Each of these lead to isolation for children or teenagers on into adulthood, which is what leads to these people cocooning themselves online.

Yes this was always a thing but I think that the change where we now have children looking at awful stuff online times a million, it increases the number of instances.

I don’t think people, certainly not many people, are born thinking that way and feeling that way. They are conditioned by a multitude of possible factors / influences: parenting, social groups, sxual interactions, abuses etc and now we can add pron which has a tremendous influence as it’s everywhere.

Then we can look to more casual instances such as music videos and so on.

Yeah I don't think musical videos have any influence on being an incel.

You seem to be looking at all of this in a very binary fashion rather than an overarching trend of social changes in the same direction.

You don’t think that sxy music videos lead young boys to think of women as sxual objects and start them down that path?

I think those are two separate things. Whether, it leads to objectification is different to if it leads to people being involuntary celibate. The latter has different kind of causes in my opinion.

And yeah blaming sexualisation in modern culture, is kind of the same opinion incels express themselves.

Going back to why we can say pawrn, Google sent me an email a few years ago. About les p.rn comment on the Emma Watson thread. Then said I had to clean up the site,but would say where else we had issues. Just that the knew and would be checking to see if the stuff was removed.

Which involved Admin2 and I deleting over 500,000 comments and me expanding swear filter and writing a diacritic transformation algorithm to further detect swear avoidance which Google could also detect.

Why are you under Google’s thumb admin?? They don’t own this site

Indeed. I was suggesting that conservatives elements of society have used things like music videos, computer games, prn, as an excuse when the root cause IMO lies in the items I referenced above.

Now I’m going to reveal something quite personal so I expect several round of mocking, but when I was 13 I was caught by my folks watching prn (as in they found it in my internet history). Nothing wild, just a man and a woman going at it. My mother didn’t speak to me for a month, and even after that was really cold to me for pretty much years. My dad mellowed relatively quickly but wasn’t much of a talker so never ever mentioned it again. Now from that I became pretty depressed and the dynamic at home was really quite toxic. And things like school suffered, my As became Bs and ace, and I was getting into trouble far more. I was lucky though. After about a year of that I started playing rugby and slowly turned things around and re-established myself. And it’s why I think so much about the role parents, teachers and outside pursuits have to play in moulding young men who respect women.

With these incels there appear to have been many many missed opportunities to step in, to educate, to involve, to include, and all of these were missed.

Obv I was lucky that I had pals, but I think alot of the going underground can stem from being unable to speak openly to one’s parents about things like prn.

They may look for external reasons why they're lonely or unfulfilled but noone owes you a good time

Louis Theroux did a good bit on them (at least tangentially) in his current series, first episode. And even “the coming storm” which is a bbc podcast series also touched on them and the role forums like 4chan and 8chan play in developing these ideologies.
