Most petrol stations in the UK and Europe work on tight profits and want you to go inside to pay so you'll buy other stuff.
However I get my fuel at either Costco or Asda which is Pay (first) by Machine.

Surging prices at the pumps have led to a 200 percent increase in the number of motorists driving off without paying, it can be revealed.
The war in Ukraine has seen the cost of petrol and diesel soar to over £1.60 and £1.70 respectively, with fears that prices may rise even higher in the coming weeks.

Unless you’re disguising your number plate I’ve no idea how people think they can get away with this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a fake news thing circulating on Facebook saying something along the lines of: a tank of fuel now costs £80, so drive off without paying, attend civil court when invited and pay the £50 fine instead, saving you £30
Wouldn't surprise me if this is part of it...
Just as many replies on it saying "genius" as there were saying err... It's £50 + the cost of the fuel....

Reports that Putin asking Xi for military help. To do so means China would open itself to substantial sanctions and make itself a pariah; to refuse would keep open the possibility of at least selective cooperation with US and West. Defining moment for Xi, China, and 21st century.

China already collaborates very widely with the US and the West (largely where it suits it).
There are historically deep economic interdependencies in terms of trade (by a country mile the largest bilateral trade dependency the world has ever seen), as well as deep long term captital investments in both directions. US and Chinese enterprises (to a diminishing extent, granted) have raised vast amounts of capital in the other’s territory over the last few decades. And US investment firms continue to increase their positions in China year-on-year.
Despite efforts to limit digital and technological entanglement and dependency, particularly in defence-sensitive industries, there remains a high degree of (necessary, given the mutual dependencies) cooperation in these industries. Leading tech businesses in both countries have invested huge sums in research facilities in the other, relying heavily on local talent and knowledge sharing.
In the academic arena, joint research ties between the two nations are ranked by the Nature Index as the world’s strongest. I believe there are more Chinese students in US universities than any other non-US nationality, and a growing number of US students choosing to study in China, and to remain there to start up enterprises and join the workforce on graduation.
What we hear a lot in the West is the ‘democracy versus authoritarianism’ narrative, concerns about human rights abuses, Asia-Pacific security concerns, etc.
But in reality, there’s more tieing the US with China than there is Russia with China.
Said it before, will say it again: if pushed to make the choice (which I don’t think will really happen materially), China will bin Russia off without a second thought. It’s largely an irrelevance to China beyond the Security Council and some non-priority diplomatic and military strategic interests.
