"But of the 61 companies that took part, 56 said they would continue with the four-day week, at least for now, while 18 said the policy was a permanent change."

I'd happily work a 4 day week. My missus has been doing it for a few months and loves it she, she reckons she and her team get much more done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely if they went in for a 5th day, and worked as hard as they did the previous 4 days, they would get even more done?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way bro. Don’t be so silly
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is silly. Loads of studies show that overworked people have reduced productivity. Most studies show that 4 day weeks increase productivity.

Applying the basic caveman logic of 'work harder extra days mean more work', discounts all the variables that makes up employee motivation and productivity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not no just that but it kills two birds with one stone.

More productivity just means more money for your employer. A 4 day work week improves productivity for your employer while at the same time allowing employees to improve their mental health and spend time with lived ones.

Win-Win.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
5 day week 3 day weekend? Win-win-win?

Romans had an 8 day week
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably why their empire don't exist anymore.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sure

Senior member of Kate Forbes campaign says "she has facked it" after the finance secretary said she would have voted against gay marriage

----------------------------------------------------------------------
She said she wouldn't role back any existing laws
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That makes it alright then, she’s completely eliminated herself from the race with those comments anyway. A homophobe would never get into power up there. In England? Well she’d be welcome in the Tory party with those views.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah she has probably but least she's honest with her beliefs so everyone knows where she stands on these issues. I don't agree with her at all mind you

Yeah, you work people like slaves and preach about the values of hard work all the time, without equally emphasizing the need for rest and play probably leads to more rebellions and uprisings than any empire can handle.

She’s from the free Church of Scotland, colloquially known as the “wee free”. Blackford was the same. Difference is that he didn’t let it dictate her beliefs, she appears to. Her latest comments, that having children out of wedlock is “wrong” shows that she’s completely unsuitable for first minister in 21st century Scotland.

A global grouping of 25 Anglican churches has said it no longer recognises Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby as its leader following the decision to allow the blessing of same-sex couples in England.

I think if somebodies religion means they can't accept same $ex relationships/marriage then they ought to find a new church to follow.

However it is a complex business, I know many men who find the thought of naked women touching and fondling each other exciting but are repulsed by the thought of a couple of fellas doing the same.

SNP are going to be in serious bother if no other candidate comes forth.

Forbes religious views will prevent her being elected and then Humza the transport minister without car insurance, who also missed the gay marriage vote in the final round of voting because after a backlash in his religious community and just so happened to have an important meeting at the same time as the vote. What a coincidence.

He's so polarising up here, didn't cover himself in glory in any of his previous roles. I wouldn't vote for him and i've backed them until now.

They need a new entrant and fast.

exactly, its ridiculous that people then buy into it

I feel like the name New Testament is misleading. Its thousands of years old now.

Surprised we haven't had a newer version given the amount that was written in BC and them first century AD. Must have just decided that's enough.

They felt the same, so have freshened things up by making the Old Testament the new New Testament

There’s no reasoning with these people when they get that entrenched in their religious beliefs.

Well each to their own. I don’t mind religious people being against gay marriage or anything that that their religion dictates.

They won’t be with us forever I don’t think.

She’s from the free Church of Scotland, colloquially known as the “wee free”. Blackford was the same. Difference is that he didn’t let it dictate her beliefs, she appears to. Her latest comments, that having children out of wedlock is “wrong” shows that she’s completely unsuitable for first minister in 21st century Scotland.

lol

So overly advocating for the sanctity and utility of marriage as an institution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Had she said “marriage is good” (but obviously only 1 kind of marriage given her other comments) that might’ve been one thing, but having children out of wedlock being “wrong” is different though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because she believes so strongly in the institution of marriage and its utility. She’s clearly yet another religious nut job but each to their own.

There’s no reasoning with these people when they get that entrenched in their religious beliefs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I agree that’s the reason why she thinks it. Those two things “marriage is good” and “children out of wedlock is wrong” are not the same thing though is my point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For her they are though, that’s my point.

They believe that marriage is for a man & a woman and they believe that you shouldn’t have children outside of wedlock ie. That it’s wrong.

I really wouldn’t pay much mind to people who think that kind of stuff.
