Senior member of Kate Forbes campaign says "she has facked it" after the finance secretary said she would have voted against gay marriage

----------------------------------------------------------------------
She said she wouldn't role back any existing laws
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That makes it alright then, she’s completely eliminated herself from the race with those comments anyway. A homophobe would never get into power up there. In England? Well she’d be welcome in the Tory party with those views.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah she has probably but least she's honest with her beliefs so everyone knows where she stands on these issues. I don't agree with her at all mind you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this lady religious?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a tad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well each to their own. I don’t mind religious people being against gay marriage or anything that that their religion dictates.

They won’t be with us forever I don’t think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She’s from the free Church of Scotland, colloquially known as the “wee free”. Blackford was the same. Difference is that he didn’t let it dictate her beliefs, she appears to. Her latest comments, that having children out of wedlock is “wrong” shows that she’s completely unsuitable for first minister in 21st century Scotland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
lol

So overly advocating for the sanctity and utility of marriage as an institution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Had she said “marriage is good” (but obviously only 1 kind of marriage given her other comments) that might’ve been one thing, but having children out of wedlock being “wrong” is different though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because she believes so strongly in the institution of marriage and its utility. She’s clearly yet another religious nut job but each to their own.

There’s no reasoning with these people when they get that entrenched in their religious beliefs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I agree that’s the reason why she thinks it. Those two things “marriage is good” and “children out of wedlock is wrong” are not the same thing though is my point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My understanding is that Friday is the closing day for folk to stick their hat into the ring.

Surely somebody else will step up because if it's between Forbes and Humza then the SNP is facked. I bet $ex pest Salmond is laughing his Alba bollox off.

Ash regan has also announced she’s standing but is refusing to do any press, which doesn’t speak much to her desire for scrutiny. She also was outright misrepresenting some of those who have been challenging Forbes on her positions.

For her they are though, that’s my point.

They believe that marriage is for a man & a woman and they believe that you shouldn’t have children outside of wedlock ie. That it’s wrong.

I really wouldn’t pay much mind to people who think that kind of stuff.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get you. You’ve got to have the political instincts of a budgie to not see that those are 2 different statements, 2 different things. Both you and I can look at those two things and conclude obv they’re different, it is concerning that someone standing to be first minister can’t.

Would 😏

Serious point though, a 15 year old British girl was groomed and transported to Syria to make babies for a death cult. Were she white she’d have been back in the UK years ago.

She is potentially a security risk in many ways, she should 100% be back in the UK but in some sort of witness protection/incarceration

Absolutely she should be back in the UK and face British justice.

100%. A risk assessment should be done in the UK to confirm next steps.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
(I probably do not qualify as a House Tory but… )

A digital ID - in principle, owned by the individual, and executed in the right way - is a great idea. It would provide, when required, protection for said individual, and guarantee access to services and rights. It could be a tool to both empower and enfranchise.

MASSIVE BUT, it should be designed, created, maintained and protected with the needs and wants of the individual, and not the authorities, at the heart of the project. That means ONLY holding and linking to data which can demonstrably be used to benefit the rights and protections of the individual, full read access and notification of any and all data updates for the individual, limited access for arms of the state, zero access for commercial third parties, ZERO biometric data, and ZERO obligation to produce for the authorities other than to access services and rights without a warrant.

Always been on the fence with I.d. cards, wouldn't lose any sleep if they were introduced tomorrow, or never at all.

Having said that a good idea might be an 'all in one' card, one card that acts as passport, driving licence, bank card etc. even Gala bingo. Reducing plastic drastically should be good for the planet too under the same conditions as Ten Hag Bald outlined above.
