Shamima Begum loses appeal against decision to remove her British citizenship
Wtf? Isn’t being stateless illegal or something
I have nonproblem with a basic national ID card, nevwrbhave. It should just hold the basic info, like multiple European and global countries but under this government, knowing its penchant for "bespoke", I don't trust it.

Whatever happened to the other girls that travelled with her?
I think this is a terrible judgement, no.doubt correct in law but ffs she was 15 and made the decision of a 15 year old. Would you want the decisions you made as a 15 yearbold to determine the rest of your life? I know I certainly wouldn't.

I’m not a fan of ours here in Portugal, for a few reasons.
One, it has a shiiiitload of biometric data on it, including iris scans, prints and a photo. Two, the rozzers can make you produce it, which without a warrant should be an absolute no-no in my book. Three, it has a shiiiiitload of data printed on the card to an extent that if someone nicks it, they could assume your identity pretty easily: full name, full address, DoB, tax ID no, social security ID no, health service user no, signature…
I don’t know the full extent of how the govt uses the data (although I do actually trust them to protect it from third parties - Portugal has even stronger personal data protection laws than the EU requires), but I’d prefer not to have my entire life printed on the basstard card

Sets a bad precedent. Does this mean the government can now make anyone stateless? What happens if we end up with a terrorist from another nation residing here and their home nation just removes citizenship?
Diane Abbott seems to be trying hard to get herself to join Corbyn in being expelled this morning. Some of her tweets:
Liberals didn’t even expel their former leader Jeremy Thorpe when he was put on trial for conspiracy to murder. But Starmer is set on expelling Jeremy Corbyn someone he once called a “friend”
Keir Starmer now saying that rural communities are in his DNA. Bet he did not say that when he was running for Holborn and St Pancras.
People complain about “Jeremy Corbyn’s apparent affection for murderous dictatorships in Russia” A falsehood. But what do they think of Tony Blair and Putin?

Starmer saying that about rural communities was hilarious and further evidence that he will say anything to appeal to all people. I didn't see the whole speech, as a one off did he happen to mention that his dad was a toolmaker?
Fair play to Diane Abbott she seems to be the only proper lefty prepared to stand up for Corbyn. Richard Burgon (who normally doesn’t miss an opportunity to stick his tougne down the back of Jezzers trousers) has been very quiet.

Cowardly bstards putting their safe seats above their principles.
