I'd never do a gender reveal party nonsense but I'd 100% want to know if I was having a boy or girl

I told my FIL that we weren't even going to assign a gender at birth, we were giving them a gender neutral name and we'd let them decide as they got older. Had him ranting for about 10 minutes.

We've actually seen similar to that with midwife appointments recently. Our midwife arranged an appointment when we were on holiday and we called up to tell them we couldn't attend and rearrange it. We still got a phone call and a letter saying that we had missed the original appointment, even though it had been cancelled and we'd had another one arranged.

We also had a "wasted appointment" experience recently

Sat eating tea and my Girlfriend got a phonecall about having missed her "booking appointment", only they forgot to send the letter out. It was still in the out tray at the clinic, the lady on the phone (midwife I believe?) went out and found it

Luckily they booked her in the next week without any issue but it was a lost appointment, due to an administrative error.

But I also imagine that such errors occur with a lot more regularity amongst an overworked, stressed and disengages (underpaid, undervalued) workforce.
