I bought a bike, it had the fancy hi-pressure innertube valves (not the car tyre type) got a puncture, ordered new innertube, but it came with car tyre type valves, which are thicker and didn't fit through the rim hole (oo-er) so rather than sending back i just drilled a wider hole.
I didn't sand the hole off properly and 10 minutes into my bike ride the rim had sliced off the entire valve. Sorted now and thoroughly enjoying the slightly quieter streets and Sadiq Khans bike lanes, much safer than before.

Keep at it Admin.

Possibly the quickest way to get about in London if there are cycle lanes.

Even in the 80's it was crazy riding a motorbike from Berne Hill to Tottenham Court Road, so I sold my bike and got the tube or bus, but cycling is the way ahead in a city.

The presta valves are the long thin ones(they handle the 100psi+ better), and Schrader are the car tyre ones. You can pick up an adapter from presta to Schrader for a couple of pounds. On my MTB I ride with an adapter on one wheel as I've a habit of losing pump when I crash on trails, so it covers my options should I meet someone whose pump only does one type of valve. Always ride with a chain breaker tool now too, as a chain snapping is devastating. You can just removed a link and get back on the road. When you are out in middle of nowhere a snapped chain is horrendous.

I need one of those.

After dentist trip earlier in Belfast, a guy reversed his car back, crushing my leg between his car and my bike as I leaned to the right to avoid him smashing the bike or my foot.

He was letting a car into a garage, so when I knocked his window to remove his car from my leg, and off the front of the bike, he pointed to how he was just letting a car in....while reversing over me, lmao.

Lucky I have calmed down as I would normally put my fist through his window for trying to justify his attempted murder, lol....with no apology or admission of responsibility.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was out today on bike, country roads and came across a guy with a puncture, i had no spare inner tube on account of my own recent puncture. Had to leave him to push his bike home. Ordered spare tube, when i got in. I'm just going very steady, after my chest pains last year. I wear a HR monitor on chest too.

As Hec said, keep at it Admin, as cycling is less pressure on your body than running, with pools closed and no swimming just now.

I have a racing bike for flat roads and mountain bike for hills, both second hand for 200 quid, spake sure you have the right bike as it makes life so much easier and fun.

With a bike you can pace yourself, free wheel, stop anytime and build up distance ad speed, or just enjoy it at a steady pace.

Are you still off the sauce, admin?

That would obviously lead to chest pains etc?

No, I'm back on the sauce but scaled way back.

It was the road bike today £400 second hand. I've got a mountain bike £400 2nd hand 29er i take on the trails 2.4 inch on front 2.6 on rear, its a slog due to rolling resistance on the roads.

Good news on the booze and me too most of the time, but WFH is a killer.

Mountain bike on the road is a slog alright, and why folk strap mountains to the car and drive to a forest.

It's weird as all my mates ask about cycling, but only one or two ever do.

Trade between Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland in January plunged by 65% following the end of free movement of goods because of Brexit, according to new data.

The figures followed Office for National Statistics data last week that showed the UK’s overall export of goods to the EU slumped by 41% during the same period.

New customs, export and health certification requirements for goods going from Britain to Ireland have caused major disruption to the flow of cargo, with ferry companies operating on the Holyhead-Dublin Port route reporting a significant drop in traffic in January.

Am due a jab April and bet they run out, haha.

Glad you hsve recovered after vaccine.

I am.cinvinced I had covid last May as I had awful headaches, fever, stomach cramps and no energy for about 5 days, but my asthma was ok...got a test and negative, but ever since and last few months I have sore heads and brain fog in the morning, with no beer taken and fek tired a lot.

I bet loads of us had it and never knew and then long covid is with us in a mild form.

well they are sovereign nations and each are making the decisions independently as the EMA have advised the AZ vaccine is safe for use.

The EU wouldn't of course go against a sovereign nations right to decide what is best for their people.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
UK and America have three times the number of people vaccinated per capita, compared to the EU.

Something went wrong.

I thought the EU operated as a 27 bloc on the vaccine and everything, and did not approve of go it alone national sovereignty, hence the whole concept of the EU?

for sure they are having a nightmare, for a number of reasons but the EMA have advised AZ as safe.

If the citizens are refusing to take it do you think they should be forced to get it?

Personally I have no issues with mandatory vaccinations as we effectively already do this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I saw large scale reluctance in France to take the vaccine, but how do you make folk take it, as you say?

Some employers and airlines and clubs pubs cafes might soon demand proof of jab going forward.
