2. Sorry but do Hamas not want the things I listed? Do they not want those rights for Palestine?

If you give Palestinians their rights, end apartheid and provide a path to statehood, they will have no reason to back Hamas. The shouldn't even have to ask for human rights as those are inherent, and their denial is why Hamas exists.

Much like the settlement in Northern Ireland didn’t give the nationalists and the ‘Ra all they wanted, nor did it give the unionists and the UFF/UDA/UVF all that they wanted, it gave all sides enough that violence should cease.
In Israel/palestine that needs to start with the hostages being freed, and the bombing to stop. It’s really that simple. No side is going to get EVERYTHING they want, that’s childish to think so and reminiscent of the brexit negotiation strategy, and giving conceding to either side SOME of what they want is inevitable, and IMO necessary, to stop this indiscriminate slaughter of lives.

Because you simply don't get it and this comment demonstrates your frame of mind. Hamas doesn't exist because of and is not sustained by its charter. It is not the Hamas charter that keeps Hamas relevant. It is the apartheid and fight for freedom in Palestine that is at the core of Hamas ideology and from there their sustenance emanates.
It should be pointed out that there's no chance of free elections anytime soon in Gaza or the OT because Israel would likely target the polling stations, so Hamas are here to stay.

It was 800 odd years of religious and culture warfare in various guises.
And you hit on the key point, it requires both sides to stop behaving as they are.
So were Israel to stop building settlements (which given how politically controversial it is even in Israel isn’t outside the realms of possibility with as above a non-warmonger in charge, Hamas to release the hostages (they’ve already released some, so again, not implausible) and Israel to stop the bombing and blocking humanitarian aid, then talks can start. Bit like for the peace process to kick off in earnest, you needed a ‘Ra ceasefire.
The ‘Ra in their charter was about removing British influence from the island of Ireland. They didn’t achieve that. But are largely gone from NI.
The thing stopping the start of the peace process is bad actors on all sides, although as above the PA are wanting to come to the table, and it is Netanyahu who has in part raised hamas so he can attempt to take a position of not being able to come to the table. And as also noted, Biden.

I said soon after October 7, that ultimately both sides have to move on to move ahead with peace. I was ridiculed for saying this but it’s absolutely true.
I just cannot see Israel doing anything other than flattening the whole place which in turn will add fuel to Hamas.
I think what happened on October 7, what followed by Israel and what will follow from Israel has delayed peace talks of any significance by years and years, possibly generations.
Hector made a fair point of optimism at the time that it is possible that this may bring things to a head whereby it forces some kind of peace talks.
Sadly I think I’ll be right and he be wrong.

Not ridiculed by me I hope, as I agree. And it only takes a couple key people bring in the right place at the right time.
The shank hill road bombing happened a year before the ‘Ra ceasefire. I do think we need a new Israeli government though before it can progress. What gives me hope is that Netanyahu is not popular.

Is that what I said?
If you give Palestinians their rights, end apartheid and provide a path to statehood, they will have no reason to back Hamas. The shouldn't even have to ask for human rights as those are inherent, and their denial is why Hamas exists.
Your interpretation of that is I said to give Hamas everything they want. Look at how stoopid and biased you are. You can't even think straight. You've certifiably entered the genius realm now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and you think that if that happens then Hamas will fall away. And you think I’m not thinking straight? Bro you’re too much 😂🤣😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair bud, happened with the terrorists on both sides in Northern Ireland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s not the Middle East mate. I can’t see it happening. Would happily be wrong, of course.
If Hamas were replaced tomorrow, do people think Israel would stop expanding? No I don’t think so. Don’t see why it’s different for Hamas a group whose official charter is something that we’re all aware of.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because you simply don't get it and this comment demonstrates your frame of mind.

As for your claim that if you give Hamas everything they want the people will turn on them,

Yeah I agree. Ultimately the right wing coalition of Israel needs to go as does Hamas. I can’t see either happening any time soon though.

At first you said Israel would flatten Gaza and eliminate Hamas. That's what I disagreed with initially but you dragged it out so much. Glad that's cleared up though.
