I would say, back to 1994/5 and Rabin/Arafat, and with any negotiation, both sides have to give certain things up. It was the same in Northern Ireland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Arabs have already given up 70+% of their country, and are subjected to movement controls and extra-judicial killings in the remainder though.
Northern Ireland is a totally different situation. Ulster was never Catholic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would suggest that you look carefully at the history of Ireland and reflect on whether “Ulster was never catholic” is entirely accurate 👍.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And just to add, that Ulster is a 9 county province and not just the occupied 6.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've read Robert Kee's History of Ireland so probably have more of an idea than most.
I know enough to be able determine that there's no equivalence between what the Arabs have gone through in greater Palestine at the hands of the Israelis and what the people of Ulster have gone through at the hands of the British.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly you don’t

Whilst, arguably, not a direct comparison, it's facile to say that that there is no equivalence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't see any equivalence personally, but also don't see any benefit in getting into an argument about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Artificial state created at the point of a gun, consequent civil subjugation of the native population, freecrange violence and imprisonment against the minority, creation of violent insurgency etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Right, I see.
Some specific historical reference might be interesting and informative.
This generic stuff isn't of any value though, and I'm not going to engage in throwing cliches back and forth.
If you want to explain why (by reference to specific events) the situation in Palestine is similar to Northern Ireland I would read it with interest.
I've said my bit, I'm not here to change your mind, you disagree and I'm happy to leave you to think your own thoughts.

Breaking: Understand the Labour council leaders in Pendle and Burnley issued their statements calling for Starmer to resign WITHOUT seeking the approval first from their respective Labour Groups. Several councillors furious that statement issued without their consent.

😂 yup
It's mad, Starmer has not covered himself in glory and has done two things that IMO show he's less than perfect as a leader but the attempt to split the party over the difference between a "humanitarian pause" and "ceasefire" doesn't make any sense

The interview with Nick Ferrari where he said Israel had the right to cut off food and utilities so long as it complied with international law (impossible)
The tweet after visiting a mosque where he "reiterated the need to free hostages" totally unnecessary and probably only there to placate islamaphobes

Yeah not like there's anything wrong with kidnapping innocent people from their homes and dragging them off to be captives in a tunnel in a war zone (sometimes after murdering their family in front of them) or anything. Just placating the Islamophobes that for sure.
