Capitalism is better than communism and not being able to own your own home is a small price to pay for living in a capitalist economy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and no. Both economic systems have extremes and neither would be advisable. Communist China of Mao wasn't a great ambassador, however many preferred the communism of the USSR. And who knows how Cuba would have turned out if the US weren't such a d*CK about things.
For the impoverished side of capitalism, is communism worse? Not so sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I might be wrong and apologies if I am but I think that was SatNavs point moreso than desire for homeownership.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it was originally, but it evolved to why own a house... I think.
If we take just the communism side we need to clarify what communism is. The truest form or what we've seen. And then clarify capitalism. In its truest form we wouldn't have regulators. And where would that lead us?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When communism is mentioned here any conversation is inevitably closed down with Stalin and Mao-esque efficiency.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When we should look at it like a spectrum.

Sat Nav,
In one of our exchanges about taxation one of your arguments was to not punish those at the top, but to strengthen those at the bottom. Fair point. But how is keeping someone paying rent for 60 years as they have a low paid job strengthening them? It's just keeping them at the bottom.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you kill off the housing market and property values don’t increase then how are you taking them out of the bottom?

How is it killing the housing market? It's correcting it to how it used to be. Paying a 25 year mortgage is better than rent till you die (and paying far more than a mortgage).
I haven't stated communism is better than capitalism, just pointing out it isn't for some. PLUS, we don't live in a capitalist society - some parts have been adjusted. Child labour, labour laws, healthcare, social security, etc. So why can't we make more adjustments?

As discussed before comrade JS, in order to create a functioning and fair economy and society, pick the best bits from capitalism and socialism and make a happy cocktail that benefits the many.

@Hec - that was indeed my original point, appreciated
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Number of Russians below poverty line in 9 months of 2020 hits 19.6 million.
According to the data, the cost of living for the Q3 of 2020 amounted to 12,542 rubles ($165.19) for the working-age population, 9,519 rubles ($125.37) for pensioners and 11,580 rubles ($152.52) for children.
Capitalism isn't great for a lot of people was one of my points. And as per my previous post, how far are you a proponent of capitalism? Deregulation and full on capitalism? No minimum wage? No social services?
The point being that with either ideology they aren't done to the letter, they are adjusted across a spectrum. An a la carte approach would be better in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is the terminology....an a la carte approach, using whatever works from left and right.
For the many not the few, as some wise man once said.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay pinko!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm far more left than I'm perceived on here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don’t say!
Questioning the impoverished side of capitalism vs communism. Wow that’s really quite something
