Well, not a miscarraige, but an ectopic pregnancy nearly killed my wife. Had to be removed as it was growing in the fallopian tube. Not a happy memory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same pain, man
After miscarriage my Mrs was off work, but I was in next day being a bloke, but I feel guilty not being more affected tbh.
It was a time when her family and mates were also passing due to age, crashes, cancer and it seemed another dark episode I tried to just swerve.
Which is why although I oppose late or repeated abortion, as a man I get it is not my body and the baby is more of the mum, if that is not bonkers.

I think jail time for extensive vandalism is reasonable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Attacking a statue leading to more prison time than a man raping a women is wrong, if true.

I see yesterday Virginia became the 23rd state to ban the death penalty. Only 27 to go.
I wonder if it's an economic decision as you can't make much money from dead guys.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My Enoch Powell lecture Queens 1988 against death penalty.
It would put a jury off convicting a guilty man, fearing they would be killing him, so a guilty guy could get off.
Convinced me... along with I would not hit a switch or deliver fatal jab or hang someone.
Hanging used to be entertainment for the masses ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guillotine. And just good old beheadings in more recent history. As well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I passed a place called Cornmarlet in Belfast if I drive to work and it was the old hanging area in Belfast...mass crowds and a day out.
Humans man.

Don't people in the UK get maternity leave following a miscarriage?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had compassionate leave (couple weeks for first one, a week each for the other two) for ours when they happened. As tbab mentions they’re more common than one might think, certainly more than I thought until it happened to us as we started chatting to people about it. Just one of these things is most cases, where it isn’t down to any behaviour or anything like that.

It’s doing what we all have to do to get by and be strong. I still remember the only fools and horses episode when it happens to Cassandra. It’s about being that strength, that support for our better halves, who are coping with not just the emotional but witt the physical stress of it all.

I sincerely hope we do not learn the name of the suspended teacher - if his name is revealed there is a plausible risk of him being called. If you think I am joking, look at what happened to Samuel Paty.
This poor teacher could be looking over their shoulder for years, the school should be protecting this person and condemning the claims of offence. Instead they seem ready to throw the teacher to the wolves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naming the teacher I agree would put a target on him/her.

Agreed, look back to Rushdie fatwa too.
We cannot allow crazy to control our lives in the West.
Crazy has got a foothold in so many places, we have to push back here.

Even the Labour MP has caved, likewise the council, saying the images were offensive. So what? We don't have blasphemy laws.

Cowards.
Same folk ignored white girls being groomed by Pakistani gangs fearing the racist word.
Are we saying some religious views are above others in the West?

If this was an Islamist country those complaining might have a point, but we are not.
It is a liberal democracy, grown out of Christian enlightenment, and if you seek an Islamist state, there are alternatives to Blighty.

Lockdown has exacerbated matters but the fact the media has either not covered this, and when it has, it has presented the protestors more favourably than the teachers, is so damning.
In 2015 - we were half-way there with Hebdo where the woke press were doing a "It was bad, but" game, now they are just defending blasphemy rules.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I bet most do not believe in anything, but play the game.
And I bet those who mock religion will now defend those Islamist activists and parents.
Offended by a picture.

It's going to get worse, we have a weak government who cave on these matters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a fan of govt, but people have to push back on this too.
People power matters.
We are not a racist country and certainly not an Islamist one either.
RC and faith schools get pelters for being sectarian or divisive here, and now we have Islamists dictating what teachers teach in state schools, and if anyone defended liberal education policy, they get a racist card played.
Cowardly liberals need to grow a pair to defend liberalism, lol.
If you seek an Islamic education system and society, there are superb options out there.
Taxi
Looking forward to Islamic Madras schools being investigated to find how they are teaching on Jewish people, gay people, girls, Christians and so much more besides.

I don't see why young people wouldn't want a change to the status quo. Mass atomisation means loads of traditional jobs will be lost adding to the job losses since China was made the manufactory if the world in the 90s. Then there is the question of climate change. I've heard people talk about technology solving CC, but yet to see any meaningful steps taken. I suppose we could blame the media for blowing it out of proportion.
And these young people will have to pay for that technology if it ever comes to pass. I'd be pizzed if I wasa young person.

Thing is, teachers get killed over this now.
I referenced Africa and Taliban on " western education" opposition from Islamists and now it is in England.
Happened in Brum on lgbt education too with Islamists dictating to teachers.
Over to the liberals to defend liberalism.
Don't leave it to the far right.
17000.00 kids in detention now at US border now, after Biden and dems said come on over.
And today was Joe's first press conference after how long ???
Are they hiding him away?
He must not have that Irish gift of the gab.
It's ok though, as Harris just laughs when asked about the border crisis.
Two months before your first press conference as POTUS...ok???
Not odd
