I think it's a bit patronising to pretend that millenials will be happy being infantilised in return for not being able to build anything for themselves. There has been a generational wealth and power grab from Boomers which is choking productivity and economy.

People on the right should be wary of this, and realise that just because some people are censorious culture warriors online, it does not mean general complaints about lack of opportunities is without merit.

Btw, if the country shifts from being a homeowner society the Right is toast, it is the bedrock of conservatism and we should be doing more to preserve by opening pathways on to the property ladder for people under 40.

If I thought I wouldn't be able to buy a house until I was 50, I'd have joined the Labour Party.

As I plan on leaving this country within the next five years and think the housing market will collapse like a stack of cards before I hit middle-age, I am happy to just marvel at the complacency of free marketeers.

What is it about home ownership that is so important to you? If market forces weren’t as they were and houses were more affordable then it can’t really be for the profits. So it’s what? Having the control of ownership over being a tenant? I don’t think I would rank that above the huge improvements we’ve seen in the last 40 years.

Being a home owner should be a realistic aspiration for everyone. This is where blind loyalty to capitalism is so stupid. Housing is not a simple product. It is the castle of man and the place families are raised, instead of being a slave to a landlord and never having anything to pass on to your future children.

Its a large continent. Ghana seems to be taking a stand against Europeans treating them as just a source if raw materials to keep European industry rolling along. Just chocolate, but it's a start. Build the industry close to where the raw materials are. Cuts out a lot if unnecessary transportation i. e. GHGs.

Well there seems to be a change in Ghana re building an industry and using their own people and local produce instead if sending it to Switzerland. Seems important to both of those countries. Small steps sure, but steps at least.

Plus the conversation started off being about communism being approved by over a third of millennials and home ownership difficulties was given as a reason why that might be.

My belief is that we have a lot to be thankful for under free market economies which far outweigh owning a property and feeling proud or in his case, maintaining conservatism.

Over a third of people your age approve of communism....and you’re talking about full right wing because I asked NPE why it was important to him and question the balance of home ownership vs the huge improvements we’ve seen over 40 years. What about full left wing ideologies that caused hundreds of millions of people to die?
