Interesting that the different options you provide are all choices (to join a religion, to work for nasa, to join a political party) other than the Roman eagle, which I suspect people haven’t been a part of for over a millennium.

I have no problem with individual people feeling particularly strong towards a Union flag, it’s as relevant as feeling strongly towards anything else. My question is why is it the purview of government? If that makes me “very autistic” in your mind then that’s grand.

My comment wasn't about whose repsonsibility it is to dictate symbolism but rather why symbolism is important in the first place. Which is a relevant point in the context of debate about them being inanimate objects, or "pieces of cloth".

But if we are talking about government, then promoting social cohesion and reflecting the sentiment of the electorate comes under their remit. I'm not fussed about the flag but plenty of people are, and if that's what it takes for them to feel pride in their communities and to feel engaged as citizens, then I'd support it.

The Tories are using the flag to push an agenda, it's really not worthy of this much fallout but they're clearly trying to cause some drama which is a shame because it's our flag and shouldn't be used as a political tool domestically

Its a large continent. Ghana seems to be taking a stand against Europeans treating them as just a source if raw materials to keep European industry rolling along. Just chocolate, but it's a start. Build the industry close to where the raw materials are. Cuts out a lot if unnecessary transportation i. e. GHGs.

Rwanda saw possibly one million murdered in an African conflict that is going on in many nations in Africa now, but on a smaller scale away from media.

Sky news have recently shown kids and women and men shot, beheaded, displaced from villages and robbed of everything by rival gangs of militia.

An 8 year old boy had been shot and left for dead as his 5 year old brother was, but the bullet went through the 8 year olds head and he was there on Sky cameras as proof of genocide.

A boy was beheaded in front of his mother too and if that news does not tug at human heart strings, I do not know.

This has literally nothing to do with deflecting from the UK, boris, trump or America, as has been alleged here now and a few months back.

Disgraceful, but not surprising, especially after the past year. This generation has suffered the most and at the same time somehow been blamed the most for a pandemic that would have left them largely unscathed in the past.
