Flags (plural) and statue (singular) are the most important right wing issues of the day to some.
I don't think they are, I think the whole argument about them is facile and an exercise in deflectionary tubthumping. I do not hate the country, I do not hate its history however I don't buy into legislating for 10 years in prison for attracking a statue with a bit of paint either.
Because I just dont buy into the anti-patriot nonsense according to Sat Nav and NPE I'm wrong for treating a trans person with a bit of respect.

ONE STATUE was pulled down, a years long contentious Victorian statue of a slave trader and the government legislate for up to 10 years jail time, proportionate.

Was standing at butcher's counter this afternoon in local Asda and wee old lady, (a few socially distanced steps) beside me was chatting to the butcher.

She was delighted that the butcher's beef sausages were curved again as we'd left "that damned EU"

Didn't have the heart to say anything, although think I might need a plaster for my lip.

Scary part is were this in Scotland, under the new hate crime legislation the police would likely arrest and charge the teacher

I hope so, it's just such a badly written bill.

Before someone, not BMCL but others, accuses me of Islamophobia, I am not advocating any specifically cruel treatment towards Muslims in any way. Simply, I think Islam should be studied with the same objectiveness as any other religion. If you are doing a discussion on modern day censorship, it would be remiss not to include Mohammed's imagery.
