The Conservatives have undoubtedly created the mess we are now in and far too many of them have the morals of an alley cat.
From what I’m seeing from Labour at least so far; was just so predictable, and it’s not good. There’s only a short honeymoon period for them and already controversy abounds. I expected better and at least a timetable of hope.
They still don’t seem to have any coherent plan other than raise as much taxation as possible, prevent strikes and cut spending. I think they believe they are unopposed for the next 10 years and at some stage they may start investing in the economy. Very risky in my view.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They warned us that things will be tough to start with if they won the election to get Britain growing again. And so it seems it will be. There is little or no money anywhere in Whitehall. What did you expect from the Torys if they won?
I think, not certain though, their thinking is get the bad, painful stuff done early when you have 5 years ahead of them. Like new manager comes in, gets rid of the dead wood to rebuild for the seasons ahead.
Its a wait and see for me, one thing for sure, they won't get the sycophantic, blind support that right wingers gave to Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

“Raise taxation as much as possible”
Where’s your evidence for that? They’ve pledged not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. There’s been no comment (to my knowledge) on CGT (which desperately needs equalising with income tax).
The UK also *needs* targeted tax rises to fuel growth-driving infrastructure, R&D and housing investment, and there are obvious places to look for that. Beyond CGT, Very High Earners (employees on at least 10x median monthly salary) are paying an average tax rate ten points (25%) lower than they were 50 years ago, for example.

They started by raiding pensioners for, the rest of us will be next
No different to the tories!
Taxation is at an all time high and will get far higher, the details of which we will see in October's budget. Every indicator from the government suggests that. Inheritance tax, windfall tax, CGT, pension relief taxation, corporation tax and the like are all on the table and I won't be surprised if all of them are targeted,
Furthermore, recent pay awards and the "black hole" will swallow all that up. How does all of that fuel growth?
Pensioners being hit with the fuel allowance being removed at the same time as the price cap is lifted is not a great start, and that's before the winter fuel payment which is now not being renewed.
Didn't expect anything from the Conservatives for the simple reason that they were never going to be voted back in after their corrupt and damaging behaviour.
Are we now acknowledging that we are in for an "austerity budget" and therefore a period of adverse austerity whilst we pay over inflation wage rises with no return benefit of improved performance?

Is a fantastic but meaningless soundbite unless there is a semblance of a plan behind it. And that's the minimum I'd expect from a new PM who is effectively asking for 10 years minimum in office whilst closing down any potential for being replaced by any aspiring challengers during his reign.
Give a coherent plan (which understandably can change) and I'm likely all for it.
They have only been in power for 6 weeks or so and are still finding out the true level.of the mess this country is in. Im sure we will get a budget announcement when they are ready. Letes hope that the fat rich and greedy corporates and business are charged with funding what is required to fix the UK and not the working poor. Dont forget that the Tories wanted to cut benefits to pay for their own mess.
Winter fuel allowance isn't being fully removed, pensioners (in England and Wales only) on pension benefits are still getting it.

Apolgies.
I believe it does affect the vast majority however and only the very poorest get the benefit. The vast majority will suffer (just as we approach winter months) and many will not even know how to claim in the first place as they can be alone and non IT literate.
The simplistic view is that this saving is being used to fund rail strikers and junior doctors wage settlements to end strikes, only to fins that they will yet again go on strike and that there is no improvement in the service they provide for their increase. That last bit, I just can't get my head around to be honest.
And now moves are afoot to make it far easier to strike even if there is no majority to vote for it whilst unions are to be given the power to enter any business and recruit members at their whim.
Surely we can see where this could very easily lead?
And apologies for my "Apolgies"

From the independent
‘ Pensioners whose weekly income is below £218.15 for a single person or £332.95 for a couple should check to see if they could be eligible for pension credit.
On top of the benefit, it is a gateway to support with housing costs, council tax, the TV licence, and the winter fuel payment worth up to £300.
The government’s new pension credit awareness drive will help identify households not claiming the benefit, and encourage them to apply by 21 December.
That is the final date for making a backdated claim for pension credit, in order to receive the winter fuel payment.
About 1.4 million pensioners already receive pension credit but up to an estimated 880,000 households eligible for the support fail to claim.
Many incorrectly believe they are not entitled, have been ruled out owing to savings, or say they do not like to accept what they regard as handouts.’
So all Labour have done is attempt to stop winter payments for those that don’t NEED them and are proactively trying to contact those that do.
The likes of the Daily Heil, Telegraph and S*n somehow seem to have missed this in their reporting.
