Do non smokers drink less than 4 or 5 pints?
Banning smoking in beer gardens is being proposed for health reasons and costs to the NHS. The same associated costs to the NHS and public resources because of drinking are ignored though. I don't see dozens of police deployed every Fri/Sat night because pesky smokers have had one too many ciggies and fallen over/got into a fight/chucked up inside a taxi/assaulted a police officer or emergency worker/got into a car under the influence getting into an accident injuring/killing themselves or innocent bystanders or committed a sexual offence.

The cost of cigs is what now, about 15 quid isn't it.
That's crazy. Also a pint is 5-6 quid now too
If its a lovely day I would be tempted to go to a beer garden however I can get a case of beer from sainburys for 12-15 quid and have a lovely garden so why bother unless its a social thing.

However I think that having to pay up to £10 for a pint of lager and rising, depending where you live, will shut pubs down quicker than continuing to allow people to smoke in beer gardens.

Yes, there is that too. Especially if you are with children and /or eating a meal provided by the pub. And many pubs move the tables closer together to get more covers in each session when it's nice weather.

Blowing smoke in your face from the table next door
I get more annoyed when enjoying a quiet pint and a ciggie in the beer garden is interrupted by parents who let their kids treat the place like a free childminders/soft play area or those who can't handle their ale.
Each to their own.
Where do you lot live?
There is either a moderate breeze of a gale force wind blowing through the beer garden at my local.
More chance of being injured by flying branches than second hand smoke

"Although... its is sad to hear pub landlords bleating about the consequence of this proposal that could drive their core customers away, who are those (men usually) who regularly use their pub every day to have 4 or 5 or more pints every session just because they can smoke outside every 20 mins, who actually keep their businesses going and open."
Where did you pluck this shiite from?
Do non smokers drink less than 4 or 5 pints?
Banning smoking in beer gardens is being proposed for health reasons and costs to the NHS. The same associated costs to the NHS and public resources because of drinking are ignored though. I don't see dozens of police deployed every Fri/Sat night because pesky smokers have had one too many ciggies and fallen over/got into a fight/chucked up inside a taxi/assaulted a police officer or emergency worker/got into a car under the influence getting into an accident injuring/killing themselves or innocent bystanders or committed a sexual offence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they were really concerned about the effects of smoking and the burden it puts on the NHS they would ban it.
We all know why they aren't doing that
This purposed legislation really just seems a bit pointless and will hit pubs hard
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its the most middle classed of proposals.
Don't want anything irritating their Pimms or Aperol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really those type love a cig with there drinks.
I thinks its more the younger generation 18-30 from my experience.

I've never had anyone complain to me in a beer garden

I can understand banning smoking in beer gardens because it is annoying being sat outside on a nice day only to have the table next to you blowing smoke in your face.
___
Yes, there is that too. Especially if you are with children and /or eating a meal provided by the pub. And many pubs move the tables closer together to get more covers in each session when it's nice weather.

me neither, tables are normally spread out far enough so it doesn't effect others.
Seems pointless to me.

Always has been a strong, anti-alcohol lobby.

Doesn’t seem like a ‘strong’ lobby when it’s the only time an MP was elected on prohibition.

Night clubs however is daft as I don't see the issue with the current smoking areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blowing smoke in your face from the table next door
I get more annoyed when enjoying a quiet pint and a ciggie in the beer garden is interrupted by parents who let their kids treat the place like a free childminders/soft play area or those who can't handle their ale.
Each to their own.

Where do you lot live?
There is either a moderate breeze of a gale force wind blowing through the beer garden at my local.
More chance of being injured by flying branches than second hand smoke

Don’t smoke myself (unless it’s weed) but I’ve no problem with anyone smoking in a beer garden
As someone alluded above kids being let run wild is more annoying

I’ve had far more non smokers asking me for a faaaag than complain that I’m smoking in the beer garden (nobody has ever complained as most people are diiiiickheads about people smoking outside).
