Starmer admits to £20k donation to move into accommodation so that his son can study for his GCSE’s in peace

What’s next I wonder?

If you have a problem with donations in general that's a fair debate

I suppose I have a “problem” with those who set themselves up on a pedestal of righteousness who then suddenly recall receiving many thousands of pounds worth of gifts and assistance which he could easily afford himself.

But hey, it’s not exactly headline news is it?

Wait.

It’s headline news in some of the worst and most inaccurate publications in Europe

What you really mean is that it’s in news that you simply don’t like.

Sky News in this case; after an interview with Starmer this morning.

Is that the worst and most inaccurate?

posted 3 weeks, 3 days ago

Sky news is pretty awful, to be fair.

It’s shiiiiiiiiiit.

At times yes.

This is from a face to face interview

Tories only care about this stuff when they aren’t wearing a blue rosette.

Like all the Tories who abandoned them at the election? Those that are just as disgusted as you are? Those that became sick and tired of the continual corruption?

Or just the ones who benefitted?

I’m not a fan of the donations-based model, at all.

I think the public purse and the capped (at a very low level) and declared donations of individuals, exclusively, should be funding campaigning.

But is “suddenly recall receiving many thousands of pounds worth of gifts” fair?

Is there anything he’s received which wasn’t declared properly? (Honest question - I don’t know the answer.)

As it seems, these recent revelations are only recently being declared having been categorised as “didn’t know the rules”, suddenly realised”, were not declared due to “advice” and the like.

Looks like it’s get everything out in the open now as that dal has burst.

Better late that never I suppose.

What I don’t get is this new “rule” where clothing etc is a no no, but higher value ticketed entertaining is ok. We work with many public bodies and figures and it’s stipulated in their contracts they can’t accept anything.

The simple answer is pay for the gift.

I’ll look forward to your detailed survey report on this

You will be quite surprised as I don’t know any Conservative supporters who is anything other than scathing about these contracts and how they were administered. Not a single one.

Couldn’t care less if I tried. Now, back to your evidence based claim.

Which Tories are these exactly?

Just so we know who we are talking about. I’d imagine you like everyone else has colleagues, family, friends and the like who are Conservative supporters.

More than likely you’ll know many from all political parties.

Just in case I’ve not been clear previously, I’m of the opinion that all Tories, including anyone who voted for them in the past 20 years are thoroughly awful human beings and the scvm of the earth.

If you notice I’ve made a distinction on which ones. Yours is quite the opposite.

And in any event it’s rude to answer a point by just revering the point back when you’re floundering. Just acknowledge it’s not all Tories

posted 3 weeks, 3 days ago

I don’t need to. I’m pretty content with my claim.

That then is a pretty pathetic way to think. How more intolerant can anyone be with those that don’t agree with them?

Must be quite boring not being able to debate and argue your beliefs when you’re that intransigent.
