Even when a police officer is found not guilty by a jury in a court of law, it seems that many are still determined to put the blame on him.
Bit ironic that…..

Just doesn’t fit with some views of the police is all.
And now the poor sod has a bounty on his head for doing his job

I’ve not seen a single person say the officer is guilty.

What facts do you want checking exactly?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That people are determined to blame the officer, that people were at risk while an unarmed man is boxed in and I could go on.

But it’s relevant to the point about him being unarmed that was being discussed.
It’s yet to be determined if he carried out his duties in accordance with procedure, the Met are going to do their own inquiry to establish that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cops didn't know he whether he was armed or unarmed, but surely they had to consider that there was a decent chance he could be armed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That may be, but it’s a different point to what Robbing was discussing and the use of a vehicle as a weapon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. I just feel if the cops were aware that the car had been used in crime recently, even a shooting, and the driver also suspected of being a killer by shooting, he could possibly be packing some heat, no?
And he tries to get away and is willing to ram vehicles. He was desperate to get away and who knows what happens when he steps out the car? Will he surrender or come out with a gun? The cops don't know at that time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah and I think that’s why the murder charge didn’t wash. We’ll have to wait and see what their internalised investigation shows when it comes to whether he was procedurally justified in his actions, however.
The jury showed how ridiculous the whole thing was by taking three hours to reach a not guilty verdict.
If I was in charge (many would argue I should be) I would make it clear to our armed police officers that they can take out as many vicious gangsters as they like without fear of court or their names being released.
At least that way the tax payer doesn't have to cough up for 30 years of jail expenses.
So basically the untouchables. Cracking idea Pawl and one step closer to the facist state you so clearly desire.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
His actions in front of armed police identified him as someone who was happy to take that risk. I don’t think this was some kind of new situation to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is fine, but that’s not what people are saying. They’re saying because they found out later that he had a criminal past, it’s no problem that an unarmed man got executed by the state on our streets.
Sorry, but I feel the threshold for death needs to be higher than trying to escape being boxed in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They can't be saying that because he wasn't executed.
He was shot dead in self defense, and his character matters in making the judgement it was self defence and not an 'execution'

Escaping the police does not justify a bullet to the head.
