Fair enough on commitments on spending, other countries need to step up but that doesn't absolve America of his responsibility

I doubt they go any further than Ukraine, if they ever take it (which I doubt they will). They’ve had ridiculously heavy losses in this war and most NATO countries would crush them if nukes aren’t involved. Baltic nations could be at risk but I don’t see why Putin would risk a war with NATO just to take the Baltic states.

Also Putin’s gripe is with NATO which is lead by US so you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see why it’s their responsibility to fund Ukraine. They said they would fund Ukraine for as long as needed so why should Europe do anything? Do you think we have secret weapons that the Americans haven’t already come up with themselves?

GDP ratios do not reflect the minimum which the US is requesting they do.

Once again you try and head off down a different track. If you can’t answer the simple question as to why the US should be the massive supplier of munitions and funding their defence then that’s fine; just say so.

Europe needs to have its own defence and stop relying on other countries. And maybe have a common policy.

As things have changed, it's a fair debate as to why but in short the richest democracy is invested in being the leader of the free world though I don't think Trump really cares about Americans being "free"

Was being the appropriate word there and with that I agree. At that time, al lever nations were contributing their “fair share” of defence costs. We all now know they don’t. The UK itself now being one albeit in this conflict we are doing more than our fair share

And is exactly why Europe should fund and be able to defence itself and its neighbours. Gifting long range missiles with a proviso that they can’t be used for long range targets was ridiculous. As was zero appetite for giving air cover in time.

Counting on the US because we always have was a policy that one day would end as politics and ideals shift. Which is likely where we are now.

Trump is a deranged, egotistical and dangerous, lying and deceitful individual. As a country I’d be happier if we ditched this “special relationship” nonsense in a heartbeat and be seen to completely distance ourselves.

NATO’s long been America flexing its imperial muscles over Europe. It’s not simply a case of Europe relying on America to protect itself, the balance of power has been in America’s favour since the Second World War.
