One thing we can all agree on. It’s a lot better here 😂

I’ve never understood why shops are seen as lower risk than pubs & restaurants.
1. It’s harder to maintain distancing in shops
2. Opening hospitality reduces gatherings in homes
I might be wrong & that’s why we need to see the evidence.
Well done

True, american always ceases to amaze me how it is still so backwards
Be brilliant if hotel reopening could also be brought forward to April 12th, I’m chomping at the fackin bit
(As long as the pool and sauna can actually reopen)

It’s fair argument that has been made many times and explains why pubs and restaurants were actually no more of a cause than average. Indoors yes but socially distant, staying in one area & that environment alone helps maintain compliance.
Shops can be a mess. Even this time last year people were a joke

Yep, I think the logic was supermarkets and shops are safer because people generally spend under 45 mins in them however two issues 1) not everyone does especially families or girls shopping and 2) the rule is 15 mins anyway ain’t it? So if you’re over the 15 min threshold you are at risk regardless so there’s no real difference between 30 mins in a supermarket or an hour and a half in a restaurant or pub.
I had 5 people in my flat two weeks ago putting a new boiler in, and all the pipes electric gas refitting etc. They was here 6 and a half hours. I don’t see any much more of a risk sitting in a restaurant socially distanced from people for one or two hours
Even if we forget restaurants and pubs, I don’t get why on earth hotels have had to shut

When it comes to food and medicine I guess they take necessity of visiting the shop into account but I don't see why clothes stores and bookshops should get indoor service before pubs. Probably some nudge theory crap about drunk people less likely to obey rules and about duration of visit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah absolute crap that drunk people wouldn't obey distancing rules.
Or fair enough the no travel aspect but now that’s been dropped it should be fine for them to reopen in full on April 12
I still found it funny when Boris announced they were dropping the substantial meal and 10pm curfew for pubs like he did it and took the plaudits for it. He had no choice because they lost a court case to Sacha

Pubs will have spaced out table service until June, it isn’t the argy bargy situation you are imaging. The idea people should be able to spend hours skimming clothes racks hundreds of hands have touched but I can’t go for a quiet drink in a socially spaced out pub is ludicrous

Or even a rambunctious drink it’s still ok table to table. The problem was standing at the bar etc.
I think the majority of people are bored and have had enough already hence why so many people are out protesting or at parks or just breaking the rules to have family get together anyway
There’s no real difference or risk increase in them being open in full now
Was a lot of OTT paranoid about COVID people on my gf’s family including her parents but even 10 of them are getting together at her parents with us too for a roast Was always gonna happen once people had a jab they are happy to take the risk as they’ve got as much protection as they can get so whatever will be will be

My parents are currently at a covert garden/indoor party with about 10 people, all vaccinated

Good on them, I know so many people doing similar now. Would these people have done it a year ago or even 6 months ago? Absolutely not, myself included but now the cons of not doing it far outweigh the pro’s of not doing it

I am off to a friend’s house next week, both of us unvaccinated but with my parents vaccinated already I see it as my judgement call.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good for you. At this stage we need to see less and less obedience tbh, societal behaviour will dictate how the politicians act.
The vaccine is 100% effective at preventing death or hospitalisation, it’s the most powerful / efficient / effective vaccine ever created, (flu is only 40% - 60%) so yeh I honestly don’t think you can blame anyone for breaking the rules now, there shouldn’t even be rules
