The funny thing I always see now is I see a lot of people in pairs where one is wearing a mask and one isn’t. I don’t think they realise the mask doesn’t protect you Lol

Further cases of a rare blood clotting syndrome including seven deaths have been reported among recipients of the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab in the UK, although experts say the numbers remain low and the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh any risks.
-----
This is gonna damage vaccine confidence worldwide.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is the context of this that is important. What would be the expected amount of blood clotting in the population vaccinated (higher risk groups so I would have thought blood clotting not uncommon). As I think it was renoog said, correlation v causation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep they said yesterday if 2.5 million 60 year olds got the virus then 25,000-50,000 would die (1% to 2% fatality rate) without the vaccine whereas only 4 would get blood clot
But obviously as you go down the age groups it starts getting closer. E.g under 20’s they’d be 4 blood clots but only 100 covid deaths
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These are good points but that's not really how worldwide confidence in the vaccine works IMO.
Vaccine confidence isn't entirely based on logic or lot cal observations like you guys are making here. It's a bit of a game. And it also gives anti vaxxers a lot of ammo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really, it’s just fact that for under 20’s or 30’s they likely have a higher chance of an adverse/potentially severe reaction to the vaccine than they do from COVID
I personally wouldn’t let anyone under 18 have this vaccine
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait 4 out of 2.5m and you wouldn’t let anyone under 18 have the vaccine?
4???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I though I was risk adverse 😳
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope just blind as you clearly didn’t see the comments after it where I clarified. I was making the point that for under 18’s the risk from a bad outcome from the vaccine is pretty equal to the virus. Which is what Chris Whitty was alluding to yesterday
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Settle down.

I am slightly miffed i won't be getting a jab till about June.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like J&J though which is good
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I prefer a single jab too.
I am annoyed because in January Hancock said that when the over 50s were vaccinated he would 'cry freedom'. Well they are just finishing up the over 50s as we speak and yet we have nearly three more months of restrictions and probably years of mask wearing ahead.d
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh it seems like they went from stop NHS being overwhelmed (which it never was) to eradicating the damn thing but then the scientists say it can’t be eradicated yet they seemingly ignore that and act like it can
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't answer this sadly. All the lockdown enthusiasts have scurried from this page in recent months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We drove them all off, remember?

Depends, if you’re wearing it outdoors because you’re on the way back from a shop and you don’t want to remove it before washing your hands fair enough. If you’re wearing one outdoors because you think it protects you then yeh those people belong on a banana boat or in a mental asylum

Enjoy from what I saw on the meadow it’s been hard earned. We’re off to see wife’s family tomorrow. Will be first time my wife has seen her sister since their dad died.

Ah yes, you have remained our stalwart friend.

What I’ve said from the very very very start was supply and demand of healthcare services, and we should be looking at genuine impact on admissions and use of ICU when determining lifting restrictions.
There’s also the bitter millennial in me that thinks we locked down for those asset rich boomers, the least they can do is not spend our inheritances going on holiday while we can’t.

Police shut down a Good Friday service at a Polish church in Balham High Street, south London, at around 5pm yesterday, with officers threatening worshippers with £200 fines. Footage shared on social media shows an officer tell worshippers that the gathering is 'unlawful' and that they have to go home. But people have slammed the police's 'disgraceful' handling of the situation, with some describing it as 'deeply offensive'. Official coronavirus guidance states communal worship or prayer can be attended by as many people as a place of worship can accommodate, as long as they are socially distanced.
