Reina - 6m
Johnson - 17m
Carragher - free
Agger - 5m
Enrique - 7m?
Kuyt - 10.5m
Lucas - 5m
Gerrard - free
Adam - 9m
Suarez - 23m
Downing - 19m
Carrol 35m
Doni - 1.5m
Kelly - free
Skrtel - 6m
Maxi - free
Henderson 16m
Bellamy - free
Aurelio - free
=========================

Mate, you are accurate for most but Henderson was 20 mill, Johnson 18 mill, Aquilani 20 mill, Downing 20 mill, Kuyt 12 mill

Cheers

People don't seem to understand how complex some transfer deals are nowadays, clubs are too clever to simply stump up large sums, especially when buying potential or untested players. The use performance and appearance related addons.

Aquilani has never costed 20m and even his final fee was 17.5m which would have been paid had he reached the required number of games. Having been loaned out, i can't say exactly how much we paid but I calculate around 14m. Regardless he isn't in our squad.

Henderson is a similar situation. 16m, rising to 20m based on appearances.

Kuyt was 10.5m. That's an easy one.

Johnson was 17.5m. We were actually owed money by Portsmouth who were having huge financial problems and went backrupt the same season, so we were lucky to get him and actually not pay too much for him, taking off the Crouch fee.

Downing was 19m. Probably rising to 20m.

Henderson 16m, which MIGHT rise.
---------------------------------

If we are doing the might rise bit then your price on Smalling is wrong too. He was 6m rising to 10m.

Nani was 17.

Spurs had a bid of 14 rejected for him before we bought him so we arent liklely to have got him for less are we.

Where did you get that from?

Reports at the time. Where did you get 13 from because I have never seen that figure banded around once.

Just take off 5m from each United players actual price that's how they work it out.

All the prices I have heard are 13/14m for Nani. Never as high as 17m. We paid a combined total of 30m for Nani and Ando, with Ando costing 17m.

I also dont ever recall hearing that Spurs made an official bid for Nani. They were apparently interested, but Nani wanted to come to United and didnt consider Spurs. If they had made a bid for him then you can be sure that we would have heard about it as they love to tell everyone who they failed to sign.

Harry redknap loves telling people, not sure the spurs hierachy are too keen tbh.

Anyway I just read his wiki, it states his price was 25.5m Euro's.

Not sure what the exchange rate was at the time.

I was most certianly under the impression we paid very similar fee's for Nani and Anderson.

No I use what I consider to be reliable sources. Just like you have done with Henderson. I havent seen any decent source say that Nani was 17m. Most seem to agree on 13/14m, with Ando costing 17m.

However, even the 17m probably isnt really a true reflection. It is more likely to be 10m up front, 2m after a year, with the rest based on appearances in various comps, trophies won and whether he signs an extension at United. But we just end up with a total price to cater to the tabloid readers.

Harry wasnt at Spurs at that time mate.

Im sorry but wiki is just one person's opinion. It isnt a reliable source at all. I could go on and change it to 9m Euros if I wanted to.

Sporting said the transfer fee for Nani was 25.5 million euros (17.3 million pounds) and Portuguese media reported that Anderson would cost United a similar amount."

I remember the fee combined for both Nani and Anderson was 30m. Anderson was 8m rising to 17m. I make Nani 22m in that case. With rises making the total to 39m.

And wiki is not one persons opinion either. It must written, then backed by a credible source.

Of course you could change it, but within minitues it would be removed if what is written is not backed up by evidence.

Yeah but it's more fun adding 5m on, for the benefit of Elvis. He likes to take 5m off, so I thought I would add 5m.

Anyhow, I would say that United's squad is around 100m more than Liverpool's. With an extra 100m, I certainly believe we could have a better squad than United's. Certainly goes a long way in showing why United are ahead of us at the moment.

posted on 16/9/11

But you have to bare in mind a lot of our money, about 70 or so million was spent a long time ago.

If you had spent money on keane, aqua etc a little better then you would have a better squad.

Thats not having a pop btw, its just an observation.

We have spent a fortune granted. But majority of the money spent in the last 10 years at the club, on players, remains here today.

Bar hargo of course.

That's what you get when you run your club well... SAF at the helm has overseen excellent turnover with regard to player sales, allowing him to spend more.

Liverpool have paid the price for some disastrous management decisions!

All fair....we have had to suffer from some bad management with regards to transfers. But dont make it seem like Mr AF hasnt also had his fair share of bad buys. Its just that because Utd keep winning it goes unoticed.

Agreed. However the article is about the current squad.
We could delve into it further and take for example Ferdinand's fee and exchange it to the equivalent of today's money and it would be a lot more.

When a team is operating on a sell to buy system, which Liverpool were then you have to take more gambles on cheaper players whereas United were able to add to their already great squad with 20-30m players.

The few years when we were able to do close to that we performed quite well making Champions league finals and finishing second in the league, when that stopped we went backwards. Again we have been able to spend high fees for the past year, adding to the squad which went backwards and are now back to where we were a few season ago. This is not progress, whereas United have been able to progress, we have went up and down.

I am not complaining, as United have a much bigger income than us and it is only natural that in turn they should spend a percentage of it. We have spend probably a bigger percentage of our income than United have.

Utd spent more than I expected actually...
suppose I still picture them with there star players coming from there academy when thats not the case anymore

.................................................

We still have a few coming through. Welbeck and Cleverley for starters.

We will never see the likes of the class of 92 again. Big money sugar daddy owners have put a stop to that.
