He chose United because City wouldn’t match the humongous financial package on offer. Likely to be the leagues top earner

End of the day Arsenal are shown zero ambition. If they signed Micky and PEA a season or 2 ago along with sorting out the defence he would have stayed.

We are only getting Micky and maybe pea as the board know we have royally racked up.

If that was the case, why did City hold a meeting to discuss it on Monday, whilst already surely aware of the financial demands. That suggests that Abu Dhabi United haven't suddenly become the guardians of prudency and were considering matching the demands. They were too late though, Alexis had already made up his mind

City wouldn’t pay Arsenal’s asking price, that’s why he’s joining Utd.

I think the situation was more City had agreed a deal with Sanchez Long ago, United entered the frame and offered a ton more cash, City wouldn’t match it, simple.

Then the meeting on Monday to discuss a potential punter offer was a bit silly, wasn't it?

I think City can afford a few extra quid in a transfer fee, u think the problem was wages and not wanting to unsettle the rest of his squad.

*counter offer.

What ever way people wish to dress it up, the fact Pep met the money men on Monday to discuss the transfer suggests that Pep did indeed still want Alexis and that City were strongly considering matching his financial demands.

But as United are involved, let's just ignore the obvious and take a negative slant on him choosing them, eh?

Why has he chosen you over city then? Clearly not to win the league

Didnt want him to go to utd, but what can you do.

I can totally understand him wanting to leave Arsenal at this moment in his career, we're on the slide he done all the can here.

Utd are just hoping for an off season from city next year and they and Chelsea will try and duke it out for the title. All depends on city's motivation next year.

The chance to play every week? The chance to actually show some individuality in attacking areas, rather than be under pressure to have 95% pass completion? The fact United were going all out for him whilst City arrogantly assumed they'd get him on a free in the summer, and only showed interest in Jan when it was too late? Plenty of possible reasons

Weak reasons on my opinion, he’d have been a regular at City too. Please don’t tell me Sterling is currently a better player. City play football that’s light years ahead of United. It’s allllllll about the money. Can’t blame him one bit though, and I wish him Goodluck

After playing so well for Arsenal so long, Arsenal could not give him the offer he wished. That's why he left Arsenal. City was interested in him. But United wanted more so offered better deal for both Arsenal & Alexis. Hence he came to us..
Money was a part of it. But not the main part. Still United is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and many would prefer compared to other big clubs in England unless they're particular about playing under some specific managers.

Has Sanchez arrived 'up north' yet? The guy must have been driving longer than Chris Rea.

Wonder how much Lingard will get to play. Will be a shame if it prevents him continuing his impressive form, for England's sake.

Mata is the guy most likely to miss out imo

Does Mata even start regularly for you?

Don't be silly Abdul. United have no attraction other than money. Whereas City are an institution, who players rush to due to the chance to add to their massively impressive history

posted on 21/1/18

Isn’t Mata out of contract at the end of the season?

posted on 21/1/18

He's started the last 9 or 10 games Spurtle. The fact you didn't know that is part of the reason I expect him to make way

The reverse of what I say makes sense then?

Ok then, I think Sanchez will be brilliant for you.

Nah didn't mean it as a dig. Meant that the fact you didn't know showed that he can be anonymous on a far too regular basis, regardless of his talent. Admittedly, the way I put it was ambiguous 😂
