I'm not bitter about Sanchez moving, he's a top class player and any top player with any sense of ambition would want out of the mediocrity that Wenger has created at Arsenal - it's what all our world class players have done over the past 10 years.

I fear this is a bad transfer for the club though. Mkhitaryan is in his second season of English football and still doesn't look anywhere near the player he did at Dortmund. Some might say that's because of Mourinho's management, but the fact that he's actually done well in Europe points to it being a struggle to adapt to the league.

Meanwhile Utd are already started to look a good team defensively under Mourinho, they're starting to develop a good spine, and they're on course to hit 80+ points a season. They're still lacking a top class wide player and we've just gifted them one in return for one of their duds. They are now well-placed to launch a good challenge for the title next season.

So we've basically strengthened a rival with a world class player in return for a player who's performed at Welbeck levels since joining the league, with no money to play around with either.

Yesterday's game against Burnley showed otherwise.

Yeah United won 1 nil at Burnley yesterday. We drew with them at home on Boxing Day and were 2 nil down at half time, at which point the abysmal Mkhitaryan was subbed off. Arsenal claimed a very unconvincing 1 nil win at Turf Moor in November. The winning goal was scored by Sanchez from the penalty spot in injury time

You could be completely correct, but I hope you are wrong and mkhi's poor form is down to Mourinho's style. Selling him with the wages he will be on will be very difficult.

posted on 21/1/18

Mkhi looks very average from what I've seen of him.
Not quick, not strong, short, and a bit of average technique. Plus he is from Armenia. Tf?! Armenia. C'mon man. Can't take him seriously. Ain't ever seen a good player to come out of Armenia.

The guy has nothing about him.
'Dud' is indeed the right word to describe the guy.

Well let's give him a chance...

I mean, Hleb was from Belarus. Belarus i tell you! He was magical as well, only flopped at Barcelona because Messi was in his way.

Hleb was a good player. But he wasn't anything special.

If Henrikh plays half as well as Hleb did for us i'll be happy. Don't be fooled into thinking Henrikh is a Sanchez replacement because he's the player being exchanged. Aubameyang would be a more like for like replacement asfaic.

It doesn't surprise me that you say that though, Hleb was underrated by many and a great player imho.

He could pretty much do it all.

posted on 21/1/18

Ah yes, thats right... Sanchez is actually paying £4 subs every Sunday because Manchester United are so far ahead of their rivals right now and he's desperate to sign for them. That will 100% be the reason City, PSG, Juventus have all pulled out of trying to sign him, they just can not match Manchester Uniteds chances of winning silverware.

As for Arsenal, wow they have just fallen so far behind. It's not like they're on track to win the exact same two cup competitions and finish in the exact same league position as Manchester United did last season. Nope, they're at least 4 or 5 years, two new managers and 11 players away from doing that. No wonder Alexis has jumped ship.

United have been awful for nearly five years now, haven't finished above arsenal for half a decade and finished 6th last year. He turned down city offer who will walk the league this year whilst united are at risk of winning sweet fa. He went for the money

1) we haven’t been awful. Poorer than under SAF but have won three trophies

2) ‘He went for the money’. That is bitter too. He’s joining Manchester United. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world. He would have grown up knowing who we are and surely at some point he may well have thought about playing for us. No disrespect but I doubt he’d even heard of City until he came to Europe.

I misread the bit where the Godfather said ‘at risk of winning sweet FA’ as him meaning we won’t win anything over the next few years. I’m guessing he means this season. I’m sure we have as good a chance as anyone of winning the league next season and i have no doubt he’s going to play out of his skin to make it happen.

I've seen some laughable stuff on this forum over the years but this Sanchez transfer has brought City and Arsenal fans out with some absolute classics.

Some City fans have actually convinced themselves that, after half a season of dominant, excellent football, that the only possible reason a player might join United over City is money?

It's so delusional it's painful.

This is the club that has built it's success purely on money. The club that has spent over £200 million on a defence.

You have got to be kidding me, right?

And then there are some Arsenal fans, who genuinely believe the only reason a player would move from Arsenal to Man Utd is money?

This is the club whose own fans have turned on their manager. Do we really need to go through the problems at Arsenal and the reason why a player like Sanchez doesn't want to stay there beyond his contract?

Man Utd is the biggest club in the country. It has a prestige that is unrivaled in the UK and there is no questioning the club's ambition.

This attempt at re-positioning clubs to have City as the paupers who are only interested in good football and developing players, whilst United are the club who can only attract players through money, is one of the most laughable things I've read in the past ten years.

Yet some of these clowns have actually convinced themselves. Unbelievable.

Saying someone moves for money isn’t bitter it’s accepted that money makes the world go round and footballers earn amazing money.

Your style of football has been terrible and plenty of united fans who go to matches have said this so not bitter.

As for what you are going to win it’s a prediction and no different than fans at games singing you are gonna win f all every week.

There’s nothing bitter about it.

Stop overusing that word because someone says something you don’t like.

Ffs rob do you go to matches do you talk to united fans that know united and can actualy be honest about the game and not biased, I have match going family members who have been going for decades and they tell me it’s Been atrocious and some one nil wins have papered over the cracks.

There were threads suggesting who the Next manager would be.

Take your head out of the match thread and be honest, the football has been nowhere near entertaining apart from sporadically and against lower value teams.

You can’t tell me it’s good To watch.

I think it's fair to say there is an element of bitterness because United have signed a player who City thought was nailed on to join them and who is one of the best in the league.

No real shame in that - I'm sure a lot of United fans would probably be the same if it were the other way around.

At times it is, at times it’s not. Under SAF a lot of the time it was the same. Lots of ground out victories.

Please don’t insult me with your cliched ‘do you go to matches’ question as if that has any relevance to how I enjoy the football or not. It’s all subjective at the end of the day.

Don’t let a few people who never wanted Jose to be our next manager let you think there is this big campaign to get him out. He’s doing fine and signing Sanchez will only make things better.

Listen rob when you are at the game surrounded by paying fans that go week in week out you get in my opinion a better feeling of how supporters think the team is going, yoy don’t get that on some bun fight match thread.
