Fury wouldn't make my top five heavyweights yet - he'd probably be top 10 if he becomes unified champ

I still wouldn't even put Fury above Lewis yet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me either. Lewis was immense and he beat so many excellent heavyweights that probably would have dominated in this era. And Lewis stayed at the top for way longer over way more many fights than Fury has managed so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lewis fought the best in his era (which was a tougher era) and unified the division. Fury hasn't done that yet, so it's simple who should be above who.
Louis, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Lewis, Holyfield, Holmes, Marciano, Dempsey, Bowe, Vitali Klitschko, Tyson etc etc.
Fighters like AJ and Wilder who are Fury main competition and I'm excluding Wlad because he was old would not even be close to winning a World title in Ali, Tyson and Lewis era.

He's above some of those. I mean Holyfield, Holmes, Bowe, Marciano, Frazier...no problem putting Fury above them.
Personally think Ali is so over rated. Was very good but not as good as people try to make out
Same with Tyson
Mike Tyson is difficult to judge because prison took his best years away from him. Absolute monster is his early 20s.

I dunno, I think he can get underrated. People tend to look at his personality and what he stood for and let it detract from his boxing career which was very impressive. He lost a few years out of the ring at his peak as well.
What he did with Foreman is more impressive than anything Fury has done.
I think Joe Louis has the best case for being the greatest heavyweight of all time, but the generational gap between him and future great fighters means i am hesitant. I wish he'd been in a later era.

Was he though or did he just beat a load of old bums from the Holmes era
Even price won his first 10 or 15 by KO
It’s always tricky comparing different era’s
Different gloves, different conditioning, different rings, longer rounds etc
What we can all agree on is Ali, Lennox and Fury were all the greatest of their era’s

People might say the Fury era is the same. Beating a load of Wlad bums. The 2nd beat HW in Fury era has lost to a cruiserweight and some fat Mexican.

Did Lewis's or Ali's eras have a chubby little Mexican as a world champ, or Charles Martin?
Fury schooled Wilder three times (imo) and beat Wladimir Klitschko away from home so to speak - he has also fought a lot of fodder in his time
Including Whyte
Furys height and reach advantage would be the only way he could stop Ali but still think Ali's technical ability in his prime means he'd box his head off. Fury ain't got the power to knock Ali out.
Mike Tyson I think would have flattened Fury and he wouldn't be getting back up.
If that Joker wilder can catch him, Mike is knocking him out cold.

Mike Tyson was way too small and couldn’t handle Lennox. Fury would have lennoxed him

I also have a bit of a problem with people putting Mike Tyson right up there. He certainly doesn't get into my top five for a host of reasons. Although I loved his fights.
Even well before he ever went to prison he never beat a truly elite top twenty fighter unless you want to count an old Larry Holmes. And anytime he did fight one he lost badly.
Ali was smaller than fury too and again his main strengths are fury’s so just don’t see how Alli would of beat hik

Fury is also a drugs cheat. Let's not pretend that never happened.
Whether Tyson was beating bums in his hey day you still have to appreciate he was doing all that as a youngster. Lost his first fight after 37 fights when he was in his mid-20's. Fury is mid 30's now and he's only fought 33 opponents.

That argument doesn't carry much sway with me as Tyson is younger than Lewis. If Tyson was only ever really good in a limited era of his career then he can't have been that great surely.

I think itit'a but strange to suggest conditioning dictates how great someone is.
By that logic Giggs is superior to Best.
