I think most of the UFC fans started off as boxing fans,I know I certainly did.

One area that cannot be disputed however, is that currently, the UFC make the best fight the best.

Yup and boxing fans can only look on in envy while we wait for great fights that don't happen when they should or just never even happen at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm am quitely hopeful.

We got AJ vs Usyk, Fury vs Wilder and more recently, Garvia vs Tank are booked to fight in April. These younger fighters are hopefully setting a trend.

you do know that most are fans of both ! the divide is far smaller than it ever was. the majority of boxing fans like MMA. id say there is lower percentage of MMA fans that like boxing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course I know there are fans of both, I'm one of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
jsut the way you worded the previous comments came across as a UFC elitist talking down on the boxing community. Cos you wrote boxing fans can look on while "WE" wait for great fights. it reads that you are separate from the boxing fans community is all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think you've confused my post. I meant we as in we the boxing fans enviously looking at the UFC. Or the part of me that's a boxing fan anyway, another part of me is an MMA fan. Both are awesome in their purest forms.

yeah thats seems to be the case, i think they took a lot of disgruntled boxing fans also who were fed up with boxing.

I remember the early early days of MMA (open hand strikes and stuff) it was a bit of farce early days tbf. Always watched boxing however.... I think age will have a huge say on how the fans came about to it.

Me personally I studied karate from the age of 9 til i was 19 and also helped teach (Shotokan) so I was always fascinated when it came to the mainstream.

The cynic in me thinks that we only ever got the AJ vs Usyk fight because AJ thought it was going to be a fight he could win against a fighter who many were saying wasn't big enough to be a Heavyweight in this era etc (myself included tbh).

If AJ had any real idea how tough that fight was going to be I wonder if he'd have taken it or rather if Hearn would have let him take it. I have serious doubts, but maybe I've just got cynical.

I only started watching the MMA in the late 90s/early 2000s but what drew me to the sport was the different skillsets involved and the actual fighters. The two main ones being Jose Aldo (My favourite fighter of all time) and GSP.

Potentially but I think all fighters believe they can beat their opponent and AJ certainly did, even after the first fight. Taking the immediate rematch pointed to him being confident that he could overcome Usyk and in my opinion, his performance was better in the rematch.

I think boxing at its very best is still almost impossible to match. The HW classic fights made the world stop and watch and it brought out all the big celebrities and the whole event would feel prestigious. A lot of that has gone away, with Floyd being the last of those fighters.

Yeah MMA is possibly just too violent to have that same mass appeal that boxing has enjoyed at it's very peak. Seeing people take elbows and knees to the face, covered in blood or being guillotined isn't for everyone lol.

Fury doesn't want any part of this Usyk fight does he. Watch him wriggle out of it now even though Usyk accepted the 70/30 split.

Poor Fury. He doesn't want the fight and tried the old "put a video out on social media with an unrealistic demand" tactic again to try and put an end to it, but Usyk has well and truly turned the tables.

‼️ Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's teams have both now informed the WBA that they have agreed terms for the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO heavyweight world title fight on April 29th at Wembley Stadium. WBA will not order Usyk vs Daniel Dubois. [

Huh? He literally confirmed he’s starting his training camp today and both teams have confirmed a deal has now been agreed

April 29th Wembley

I'll believe it when both guys are in the ring. I don't think Fury fancies this fight at all and has been boxed into a corner to take it. Understandable as he'll be fighting someone who likely has even more skill and nous, not to mention a speed advantage. Fury will have to make size advantage count.

If this is official then great, but I'm not sure a contract has been signed yet?

I mean Fury starting training camp means little because they were always going to use that date at Wembley. It's just a matter of whether it turns out to be Usyk they're fighting or not.

If it were a done deal I think it would have made the news by now.

Still no official confirmation of any kind despite all the talk of an agreement between parties. I also seriously doubt this fight actually materialises despite the best efforts of team Usyk to make it happen

Usyk wants a re-match clause. Fury doesn't.

That's the hold up.

Fury had no issue with a rematch clause when it came to Wilder and AJ. I'm starting to think Fury doesn't want to fight Usyk.

Yes, Usyk called his bluff.

Ball is in Usyk's court, why does he need a rematch clause.

Fury doesnt want one because he will move on for a bigger money fight after he wins. Usyk wants two bites at the lineal champ.
