You have to say Dubois would have won it had it not been ruled low, like it shouldn't have been.

Impossible to tell. I think Usyk was making the most of it but if the ref started counting, he would have got up and just got on his bike for the rest of the round.

So the big question now is, will we see Fury vs Usyk and AJ vs Wilder in 2024?

posted on 26/8/23

Evening gents.

Usual was undoubtedly the better boxer tonight but that was not a low blow in the 5th.

Usyk cannot handle body shots so I can imagine Futy is now licking his lips at the prospect of a fight as there's a clear route to victory there. Just smash Usyk's body.. that coupled with Fury tying him up and leaning on him will drain his tank.

The ref tonight was a piiss take n'all.

Let's see if Fury has got the bottle to fight him. So far he clearly doesn't want the fight and would rather fight a UFC fighter who's never fought a round of boxing in his life.

I had Fury beating Usyk before this fight but I think he stops him now.

As for Dubois, he needs work on his boxing IQ and it's clear that he has chin and heart issues. If you're getting dropped by an Usyk jab, these other natural heavyweights will hurt him badly.

Probably end up fighting Chisora again.

There's no way he gets up at a count of 10 from that. It took him about 10 seconds to rest his body on the canvas after the shot.

Speaking of Chisora, he is the only guy to have currently pushed Usyk into a hard fight, at heavyweight.

Cos he was making a show, in order to convince the ref it was low and also to disarm the body shot as a weapon - or at least limit and control it.

I just don't think Fury wants anymore risks, against anybody who is remotely challenging (in the boxing world). Probably retires again now and tries acting in a movie or something stupid like that.

posted on 27/8/23

Usyk used his acting skills and the ref was convinced he needed more time, even though he was ready to go.

He may have milked it once he realised the ref was declaring it a low blow. I doubt he even knew it was or not from the first few seconds due to the pain.

If he's not willing to give us Undisputed then just retire and vacate the WBC belt. The world is long overdue another undisputed Heavyweight Champion and if Fury isn't up to fighting for it then give someone else the chance to.

It was a big shot that would have hurt. Genuine pain from Usyk I believe. I know we all think Usyk is great but he's not so good he can't feel pain.

Yes he should and he may do after Ngannou.

He's either looking at the fight tonight thinking Usyk is easy work, or he's looking thinking even a great like Usyk should have lost tonight and that he should pack it in in case the same happens to him.

I just think if someone as hungry for fame and fortune as Fury is, said no to Usyk in Saudi for an awful lot of money, I don't see why he would ever agree to fighting him.

But he's also good enough to make it seem like he was more hurt than he actually was.

I believe Usyks plan was to use the ref to be picky with those shots, to where Dubois would be hesitant to throw ot.

I don't think Usyk should have lost tonight, he was miles ahead on points and he stopped Dubois before it could even go to points. It wasn't a close fight even if Dubois gave a better account of himself than people expected him to. And people can talk about the low blow until the cows come home but it was a borderline shot.

Yeah he may have faked some of it to get the ref to cut down on Dubois doing it, but not before he felt the pain of being hit there from that shot. If it wasn't that much of a problem he wouldn't have made a deal of it in the first place but it obviously was a problem, one I doubt he'd have got up 10 seconds later from, or if he had, he may be struggling straight after.

It definitely hurt him but if his cup actually clipped his balls, you would expect him to be in pain.

Ultimately, it was close enough where you could argue both ways but Usyk came out on top and Dubois once again showed his lack of heart and chin.

It’s a shame Dubois split with McGuigan, would of been a lot of help in there

I like Don Charles as a person, but he’s a garbage trainer and guy to have in your corner

posted on 27/8/23

I've never rated Don Charles. He's one of those trainers that works for one particular fighter and even then,it's less about Charles boxing expertise and more about his connection with the fighter.

Other examples include Dom ingle and Kell Brook, Dave Coldwell and Bellew, Roger Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather.
