At least Benn is still in his prime and the fight has the historical element of their fathers names.
Kell Brook was doing cocaine a few months ago and is clearly not in any shape to fight again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Id take Conor Bann over Cocaine Kelly anyday.
Brook against anyone these days doesnt interest me, guy should be retired
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed.
Brook has zero to offer. It would be a one sided beatdown and Kell would be stopped early.
As much as Benn couldn't be fighting the reality of it is that he will and the Benn/Eubank fight will be far more competitive and exciting.
If the Eubank that prepared for Beefy at the weekend shows up he stops Benn IMO.

Tbh I've never bought into the idea that their fathers fought so they have to. We should have got a third Benn Eubank fight back in the day but we didn't and this feels like a crap way of trying to make up for that.
Also they're two different weight classes so trying to make these guys meet at a catch-weight feels like such a force. There will always be some argument about how the weight disadvantaged the loser etc. Just doesn't work for me this fight, never really did.
A for Kell I wasn't aware about that but sportsmen doing coke is nothing new and wouldn't necessarily effect his fitness or ability to get for for the fight. Half of PL footballers are probably on it. Would be a lot easier for Kell to meet Eubank at 160 as I doubt he makes 147 anymore if he tries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kell doing cocaine isn't a great sign that he's mentally in the right place. It would affect how much he trains and how he manages his weight too. Kell should retire.
Jr vs Benn is the fight to make.

Candidly, Jr just wants the money fights and Benn does provide that.
I'd watch Jr vs Benn, as both guys are still young and their styles mesh well. At the very least, it would be an entertaining fight.

Had we not had all the controversy around the fight I suspect it would have been a good dust-up. Now though it's mutated into something that barely resembles a boxing contest and very little of the attention is going to be about the boxing itself. Great for the casual who likes all the soap opera and drama but as someone who is mainly interested in the fights themselves I'd rather not watch this circus anymore tbh.

Candidly, Jr just wants the money fights and Benn does provide that.
I'd watch Jr vs Benn, as both guys are still young and their styles mesh well. At the very least, it would be an entertaining fight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Had we not had all the controversy around the fight I suspect it would have been a good dust-up. Now though it's mutated into something that barely resembles a boxing contest and very little of the attention is going to be about the boxing itself. Great for the casual who likes all the soap opera and drama but as someone who is mainly interested in the fights themselves I'd rather not watch this circus anymore tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree.
Jr vs Benn is a great fight in terms of styles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure you've read my comment properly. I pretty much said that in the first sentence. Would have been a good dust-up before all this other crap changed the whole complexion of the event and turned it into a circus.

Eubank has not even been a world champion yet. Is this where Sky sports boxing is at where domestic past there sell by dates old men fighting each other for PPV and made up rivalry?

Id argue the circus hypes it up more, rightly or wrongly thats prob the reality of it.

Great for the casuals who know or care little about boxing but just love the soap opera. Not for boxing purists who don't want to see the sport dragged down in more shameful crap.

nonesense.... purist elitist talk.
both will lap it up. Been around long enough , seen it enough to see it a mile off.
the casuals will be drawn in by the hype , the "purists" will know the fight will be an action packed high tempo fight and be a good watch.

In the run-up to the fight I hope that we're talking about the fight itself and not all the crap around this fight then.

The controversy has 0 effect on the clash of styles.
You've said you're not interested in the circus of the fight and instead are focused on the fight itself. So surely you would just ignore all the outside noise and watch the fight on fight night?

Exactly. Unless you're Spence or Crawford, you have to sell the fight with what you can.
