Zinchenko due at Compton tomorrow morning to finalise the deal
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would be over the moon with him signing, perfect fit for us.

Still trying to figure out the plan with some of these signings though, Zinchenko and Dendoncker sound great but can we see both of them as starters along with the other signings?

Also don't really understand why we are over padding some positions whilst still ignoring what has been our weakest position for a few seasons now, the central striker role
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I imagine Zinchenko will play left wing back (whilst providing cover for midfield too) and Jonny will move to right wing back (whilst being able to cover the left side too). Means we have healthy competition in both wing back positions with Jonny, Doherty, Zinchenko and Vinagre.

Dendoncker provides good competition for Moutinho and Neves, whilst also being able to cover across the back three.

There is a theme to Nuno’s signings. They all have a lot of versatility and can cover a second position more than adequately; whilst being an upgrade or on par from last season in their main role. He has said he wants to work with a smaller squad and he is strengthening us whilst covering more than one base with each player.

Keep reading that Zinchenko wants to play centrally and will end up doing so but yeah it does seem that Nuno favours versatility which is a good thing.

Like the look of Zinchenko though, looks a real talent if a little raw.

I'm not sure if anyone else has watched Zinchenko. I've seen him in their preseason matches and from I saw, he's not ready for the demands of a wing back. He really breaks into the final third of the pitch and when played in a central midfield role he looked far more comfortable. If we get Dendonker, I would imagine he'll be the right sided CB as that's where he played in the latter part of last season with Anderlecht. Although he can play as a defensive midfielder and he's right footed. That's why I believe it was a mistake to play Saiss on the right side of a back four when he's left footed.

Let's just hope that with all these new additions, it doesn't end up going pear shape, especially as there will a lot of settling in to do.

The quality of players we are bringing in gives us depth of resources in most positions and means even if key players get injured our season won’t be ruined. To me the players we needed to upgrade on from last season were Ruddy, Douglas, Saiss, Cavaleiro and Afobe and to a lesser extent Bennett and we have done that and have brought in real quality in those positions. Hopefully all the new guys will work out well but I think we are fine even if a couple of them don’t.

Cavaleiro linked with a move to Newcastle today and Fulham still interested

Spangles has an agenda with Saiss. Always the fall guy for him. Thought he was terrific last year, however would upgrade if possible.

The countdown is on , 2 possibly 3 incomings but who will go, Newcastle have been made favourites to sign Cavaleiro in the last couple of days.

So who will go......

I actually thought Saiss and N'Daiye, as well as the central striker position; were the weakest links in our system last season.

Saiss was guilty of cutting back to his left foot every game when the best option was a pass on his right foot. Took the tempo out of our attacks too often and we were always going to require an upgrade this season if we are serious about our ambitions. Having watched him at centre back for Morocco, I'm not really sure he is the answer there either.

Ok as a back up player to cover for a couple of positions, but I would have been seriously disappointed if he was our number one option this season in any position.

One fallen through and the other still not official.

This is fast becoming a disaster if we have serious ambitions for top four.

You can tell with Zinchenko that he wants to try and break into the city first team. He has plenty of ability so can't really blame him plus going from being a PL winner to a newly promoted team may not sound the most attractive option.

Saiss was one of our most important players for me last season, it was noticeable that our form dropped off in the spell when ndiaye got game time and Neves looked his best with Saiss as well.

Regarding Cav, he was out best attacking outlet for the second half of last season so surprises me that dj still think he is one to upgrade on, I actually think he will prove to be better than Costa at this level and was certainly the better of the two last season.
