I don't think F4 translates well these days for some reason

Blarmy, I didn't think GotG would translate well on screen either. I have faith that Marvel can make it work

Gotg hadn't failed twice already tho

I think F4 are the Superman of Marvel

Hugely successful to the point of dominating an era but it was perhaps it was because they spoke to the ideals in that era and now we have moved on. And attempts to update them are weird(think Superman snapping Zods neck)

Proper casting will take the F4 a long way.

Logan and X-Men SPOILERS

Speaking of X-Men, why do they expect people watch this new film when we know what happens to all X-Men in Logan?

Logan is a very good stand-alone film, but it has completely destroyed what little credibility is left with that timeline. Hasn't it?

If Fox had GotG I'm sure they'd have found a way to screw it up.

Agree that updating them is a challenge. I'd focus on the fact that at their core they're explorers (and of course a family) and go from there. Plenty of potential in that I think

Honestly the X-Men continuity is so messed up it just needs to die.

Anyone actually looking forward to watching Dark Phoenix? Looks terrible and I say that as someone who loves the X-Men.

I thought First Class and Days of Future Past were decent. Apocalypse was a worse let down than Last Stand and that takes some doing.

Not really bothered about Dark Phoenix but will probably watch it at home once it's available for download or something.

Unpopular opinion here:

Since X-Men in 2000 or even Blade in 1998, there's been 2 decades worth of big blockbuster superhero movies.

I was getting as bit tired in 2007 after 4 movies I hated (Superman Return, X3, FF4 2 and Spiderman 3). I actually liked the movies in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Then the MCU generated lots of interest and then the DCEU. X-Men seemed to be rejuvenated with First Class.

But with X-Men losing it's way, DCEU a mixed bag and now MCU losing it's original characters, isn't it time we had a rest from the superhero movies?

I would prefer it. Not really looking forward to any new superhero movies.

To add to that Batman was done well with Nolan's trilogy, Superman was done well with the Christopher Reeve originals, now Avengers have been done well in the main. Spiderman and X-Men movies were hugely successful in the early 2000s.

There's not much more to tell is there?

Talking of X-men is Deadpool part of the plan anytime or is he still standalone now that he has his own allies.

Staying standalone I think. No chance Disney will have him with the avengers etc

Do you reckon if Japan had the financial and artistic weight of Hollywood they would be as successful at making live action versions of comics and animated series?

Some manga/anime probably aren't going to make good live action (Dragonball) but something like Cowboy Bebop surely could be great

In this day and age where people are crying for equal representation of colour/race and empowering female lead actresses...you want anime directors

All you'll see is cleavage and skimpy outfits and what pop culture consider "toxic masculinity"...whatever the fack that means.

There are definitely better anime than most comic book stuff though

Manga is often worse for that or fan service as it's called

Should say though that although I like some of the DC Marvel animation it's not on the same level as the best anime. Not even close. They probably don't need the blockbuster live action because of this but I feel cinema could benefit

I love anime and from an animation perspective they are way ahead of Hollywood. Just the art styles suits their themes more.

I don't know if they all succumb to fan service....maybe the new Dragon Ball Super movie being fan service for an iconic non-cannon character. Naruto didn't end with fan service. Neither did Death Note or Tokyo Ghoul.

Although my anime watching has been on the back burner for sometime now that I'm rewatching The Sopranos for the umpteen time.

Back to the movie, what did everyone think of the scene where all the women just happened to be together at the same time to back up Captain Marvel?

I thought it was forced and tacky. Am I being harsh?

Why does no one ask this when it’s a load of men altogether?

(Also it’s so annoying replying to you because your user name comes up with banned words and have to change it)

posted on 29/4/19

I thought Tony saying "I am Ironman" before his snap was way more tackier than that

Or even Cap squaring up to Thanos and his whole army before the others arrived.

Banned words? Which word is banned? Ronnie?

Literally every SINGLE woman was put in the same shot. I don't remember a shot with every male being in the same shot. It was clearly forced in my eyes, if you are too deluded to see it, I can't help you.
