There's a reason this game has been his only one in the series. The selectors and Kohli see Ashwin as the frontline with Yadav and Chahal the future. I have always been a Jadeja fan though.

IMO the game changed when Anderson came on. He's just bowling line and length and they couldn't dominate him the way they did Stokes and Rashid. The run rate came down and Rashid has benefitted.

Because he had so many runs to play with. They all desperately want Rashid and Moeen to be top international spinners and have bowled them a little too much.

I feel the new ball coming on soon though. Too easy to block at present.

It's not like he's the best of a decent bunch. He has been outstanding and there is no one else who has even been good opening this season.

Exactly. If there were a bunch of candidates who were all playing well, or if they were all garbage and they had to just pick one on faith, then I'd understand it. But he's been top class, and not just this season. Beggars belief that the guy hasn't been capped yet.

At least for someone like Hildreth it's far to say that throughout his prime we've had plenty of outstanding batsmen at 4 and 5. But Burns? I mean, he's been class for several years in a position that's been a problem since, what, 2012?
