He does in a test match environment but he's been very good in ODIs so I thought that with them batting like it's an ODI, we'd bowl like it's one but that hasn't been the case.

Anyway, he's been hauled from the attack now and Root who barely ever bowls himself has brought himself on. Could be the last time we see Rashid bowl for England in tests.

You don't think Rashid will go to Sri Lanka? I thought he would after playing every game in this series, albeit he's not done anything, just a couple of contributions with the bat.

Rashid type leg spinners don't work in test cricket. He doesn't have a great leg spinner delivery. If you look at someone like Yasir Shah he gives his leg spinner a whip just like Warne used to. Other than Yasir there is no other decent leggie playing test cricket.

Rashid can only bowl to the tail because they can't pick his googly

He'll probably go as England will take at least 4 spinners I would have thought if there's the potential for picking up to 3 in their starting XI.

I personally wouldn't continue with him though, I wasn't really for his inclusion in the first place and he's bowled very little considering his selection as England's 'primary' spinner.

Looks like India are going to get a draw here.

The new ball is our only hope.

It matters not whether its 3-2 or 4-1 or 3-1, England wins the series, still confident when the new ball comes Jimmy will get the record, and England should STILL win.

I've got a feeling that England will get a wicket shortly before the new ball which means there will be at least one new batsman at the crease for the new ball.

I'm amazed that Jimmy only bowled a few overs at the start of the day though. Why he nor Broad have had another bowl is very odd. And as I type that, Broad comes on.

Jimmy back on as well. About time!

England are struggling for good spinners in my opinion, can only think of Leach who's not been selected yet but doubt he'll be any better than the current options.

He played in New Zealand but was injured ahead of the Pakistan series which is why Bess came in. If Leach doesn't go to Sri Lanka it'll be a travesty, the guy is the best spinner in the country.

James Vince picks up a timely king pair for Hants vs Somerset. That'll be his place on the Sri Lanka tour set in stone then

I'm sure Leach will be called up for the upcoming series, Bess was not very good in all honesty.

He'll definitely bring more control than Rashid

Leach is a much better bowler but Bess is a batting all rounder. There's room in the side for both if we want the extra spin option.

Agree that given a choice of one or the other, it would be Leach all day long.

Rashid is garbage, he just gives soo many freebies. One of the only leg spinners nowadays bowling with a scrambled seam. You need be of kumbles height to pull that of and obv kumble had the height to help
