How India play Anderson this session will be Key
England’s collapses in recent Tests:
v Ind, Edgbaston: 216/3 -> 287 (71/7)
v Pak, Lord's: 149/4 -> 184 (35/6)
v NZ, Auckland: 58 all out
v Aus, SCG: 228/3 -> 346 (118/7)
v Aus, Perth: 368/4 -> 403 (35/6)
v Aus, Adelaide: 169/3 -> 233 (64/7)
v Aus, Brisbane: 246/4 -> 302 (56/6
Read on here yesterday someone saying England's middle order is blessed, pretty shocking by looking at the above.

I'd be interested in seeing some stats on how often the middle order have also gotten us to a decent score from being 30-40/3. Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Moeen and Woakes in the recent past have often gotten us to decent scores following top order failures.
Shami is a class bowler despite his off field problems with his wife or whatever.
Let's see how we bat now.
Vijay already running risky singles
Has he learnt nothing from Root yesterday.
No need to get desperate for reviews so early. England need to remember that even if India start well, they can bring it back just as India did yesterday.
Solid start from these two. RR just above 4. I thought England batted a bit slow yesterday although their collapse didn't help.
The Essex bowlers made them look much worse than this, last week. Didn't Dhawan get a pair?

Yep, from 4 deliveries as well against a second string attack.
Broad has been very average this morning. Jimmy a little better but not a lot of pressure has been put on the batsmen. Curran has now come on so assume we'll see him and Stokes for the majority of this period until lunch.
Will Root think about giving Rashid a few overs or will he just get 1 before lunch?
England's attack lacks variety, no bowler that can bowl 90mph and they could do with a left arm seamer.

................
Pretty much a second string team to be honest. They batted better than England as well.
That game was equivalent to a pre-season game. Meant absolute chit. Plus that outfield at Essex was absolutely horrendous.

Curran is a left armer, and he just got the much needed breakthrough!

My bad, I must have got it mixed up with his brother! He's got two now!!!
Left arm seamers usually do the trick vs India....

Yeah, Tom is a right armer who's a bit quicker than Sam but Sam is seen as the more promising talent due to his all round potential and being a leftie gives England some much needed variety.
England now have the bonus of getting a few overs at Kohli before lunch.
If only I could watch it, reckon there's a good atmosphere in the ground right now...
Stuck at work, looking at BBC updates!

They always used to get me as well when I played in London for five years back in the day.
That's 3 for Curran - oh India - he's not Amir....
Well at least England are only second best at collapses
