Big clubs play in the champions league
-----------------------------------------------------------
Big club establish themselves in the Champions League, we did that between 05-12 and we're still reaping the rewards of it in terms of how we're viewed worldwide. It's the reason City are still struggling to establish a strong fanbase outside of England, there CL record is dreadful.
Spurs need to do something significant in it, whatever that be reach at least the quarters consistently, or have a run to the final like Pool have three times in the last 13 years, until they'll be viewed as a big deal outside of England which is a big factor in defining the term 'big club'. IMO anyway.

Lol, finishing higher in the league for the odd season or two while never really achieving anything in particular doesn't make Tottenham better than Chelsea. You have to be either consistently finishing above the other team for a large period of time or winning big trophies, like Chelsea have in the last few years (two league titles).

Even pre-Abramovich our European record was fine. Only British Club to win the European Cup-Winners Cup twice and one of the few English teams to have won the Super Cup in 1998. Obviously since Abramovich we've now got the full set.
Arsenal particularly (since the article is about them) don't have all that much in Europe to shout about with 1 Cup Winners Cup and 1 Fairs Cup.

As I said Summer not knocking Chelsea, but most of your success has come since the money. That`s the way it is I know, and you have been through thick and thin, but some of your fans have become very, very arrogant since the lottery win. Not really sure the European Super Cup can be counted as winning a European Trophy, when only two clubs compete for it, it is a slightly better version of the Emirates Cup.

Arsenal do have a truly shocking European record, for the amount of times they have been in the CL, and so little to show for it. One final, when they have just about the easiest draw going.
Sandy the Super Cup as I see it is highly exclusive. The only 2 Clubs that are even allowed to compete are either the Champions League Winners and formerly The Cup-Winners Cup Winners (now the UEFA Cup winners). No-one else in the whole of Europe is deemed good enough to take part.
Until they did away with that competition it was viewed as the second most important competition in Europe which is why the winners of that and not the UEFA Cup Winners always were entered. You have to win the first competition to even qualify for the second one, so only the cream are even allowed to enter. We were the cream and so qualified to take part and you boys also won it in 1963, but I don't think that they had the Super Cup then or else you may well have put it on the CV.
ps. I liked the comparision with the Emirates Cup You've still got your wumming talents.

A bit of banter and the odd disagreement is fine, but there is no need for insults and bad blood between sets of supporters. Unfortunately there are still a few nasty fellas around, who just insult and do not engage in any kind of sensible debate.

Spurs need to do something significant in it, whatever that be reach at least the quarters consistently, or have a run to the final like Pool have three times in the last 13 years, until they'll be viewed as a big deal outside of England which is a big factor in defining the term 'big club'. Uh... no? I don’t think Tottenham have been the best team in London for like decades now if ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol, finishing higher in the league for the odd season or two while never really achieving anything in particular doesn't make Tottenham better than Chelsea. You have to be either consistently finishing above the other team for a large period of time or winning big trophies, like Chelsea have in the last few years (two league titles).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh well Chelsea won the lottery, so that is why all their trophies have come in the past 15 years. Before that they had very little on their CV. Less trophies of everything than Spurs had. Shows you that money does buy success.
Not knocking you boys, but you know without the money Spurs and Arsenal would both be streets ahead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were equal on European Cups
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even pre-Abramovich our European record was fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said Summer not knocking Chelsea, but most of your success has come since the money.

It's good that we can trade bantz these days without any unpleasantness. It's what the site should be about.

Summer, to true mate. it was silly how it all got out of hand. Yourself and Brummie are two of the best posters in the site. A bit of banter and the odd disagreement is fine, but there is no need for insults and bad blood between sets of supporters. Unfortunately there are still a few nasty fellas around, who just insult and do not engage in any kind of sensible debate.

IMO anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Big clubs play in the CL mate. Chelsea and Arsenal don't. It's as simple as that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you were a small club until recently then Flashy!
