Well this is nonsense.

2 problems with your point:
1. A calendar year... so what? Why is one year suddenly the key measure of time?
2. Overall spend - what about wages?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I'm just choosing the most recent year because that spending seems the most relevant in regards to this season.
And I can accept that Man City have a more expensive squad and probably a higher wage bill than Liverpool do. But in 2018 Liverpool definitely took the first few steps to catching up with them. I'm just pointing out that their fans can't take the moral highground anymore and claim that they operate in a different manner to Man City, PSG, United etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
United and Liverpool operate differently to Man City and PSG imo.

Well of course Man City's squad overall is more expensive than Liverpool's because they've been spending big for years. But since your club has made the switch to start spending larger amounts of money on players, in that time period you have outspent Man City. You've out Man City'd Man City.

Man City & PSG can go out and spend £60m on a bench player without selling a player, Liverpool can’t.
And Liverpool make all the money that is spent, the others do not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man City didn't used to be able to spend 60m on a bench player either. It took a few years of spending before they reached that point. You'll get there too, don't worry about that.

All I'm saying is, whats the difference between City spending 60m on Mahrez and Liverpool spending 60m on Alisson? OK the clubs get there money from different places, but they're still spending it and it still gives them the same advantage over other teams who can't spend that kind of money on players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal can spend 60m on the odd player, but not consistently. Tottenham can't even spend that. Liverpool used to be on par with them for spending, but you guys are now crossing into the United/City/Chelsea territory.
Which is fine btw. But if you win something you're clearly not an underdog anymore.
if you look at the respective 11's from the other night
Allison 60m > 35m Ederson
Danilo 26m > TAA 0
VVD 75m > Stones 50m
lovren 20m > Kompany 6m
Laporte 57m > Robertson 10m
Fernadinho 30m > henderson 20m
B Silva 40m > milner 0
D Silva 25m = wijnaldum 25m
Sane 37m > Mane 34m
Aguero 35m > firmino 30m
sterling 49m > salah 37m
obviosuly thats just the teams that played, and it ignores the money spent on KDB, Fabino, OX, Keita etc
but its not that big a difference 286m for Pool XI vs 345 for city
How many players have we spent £60m plus on?
Alisson and VVD.
Two out of the whole squad.
Why fixate on 60m though. I just chose that number because Mahrez and Alisson both went for around that last summer so I was showing its similar spending.
In general, Fabinho and Keita are another two bought for big money. Oxlade-Chamberlain was a bench player (something a Liverpool fan mentioned in an earlier comment) bought for big money, around 40m I believe. Salah another close to 40m. It's a lot of money being spent and I don't see how you can look at Man City and say "Oh, but we're not like them."
Everyone talks about record fee for Allison but the fools forget about the record fee paid for a goal keeper is Chelsea for kepa whatever

“The only way you've matched them is by matching and then going above and beyond their spending.”
Well this is nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have. You outspent them last calendar year by a lot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m a United fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not as differently as you may think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Care to explain?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man Utd spend 100m+ every summer, Liverpool spend 100m+ ever summer, City spend 100m+ every summer etc.
What's the difference? Where you get the money from? Who cares really?

Okay so because you don’t care, the difference is obsolete.
I think we’re done here.

You too...
All I'm saying is, whats the difference between City spending 60m on Mahrez and Liverpool spending 60m on Alisson? OK the clubs get there money from different places, but they're still spending it and it still gives them the same advantage over other teams who can't spend that kind of money on players.

The answer is because they don’t make that money, that’s the difference you halfwit.

Who from our rivals for the title/top 4 can’t afford to spend £60m?
Everton spent £50m odd on Sigurdsson.

Arsenal can spend 60m on the odd player, but not consistently. Tottenham can't even spend that. Liverpool used to be on par with them for spending, but you guys are now crossing into the United/City/Chelsea territory.

if you look at the respective 11's from the other night
Allison 60m > 35m Ederson
Danilo 26m > TAA 0
VVD 75m > Stones 50m
lovren 20m > Kompany 6m
Laporte 57m > Robertson 10m
Fernadinho 30m > henderson 20m
B Silva 40m > milner 0
D Silva 25m = wijnaldum 25m
Sane 37m > Mane 34m
Aguero 35m > firmino 30m
sterling 49m > salah 37m
obviosuly thats just the teams that played, and it ignores the money spent on KDB, Fabino, OX, Keita etc
but its not that big a difference 286m for Pool XI vs 345 for city

How many players have we spent £60m plus on?
Alisson and VVD.
Two out of the whole squad.
posted on 6/1/19
Why fixate on 60m though.

You've won what in this period? Absolutely nothing. And you're acting like it's a good thing.
The second you guys get a talent in your hands they move on. Sterling, Suarez n Coutinho. Can't imagine it will be long until Salah leaves. And don't give me the nonsense you did with Coutinho. I was right boys. He couldn't even wait till the summer to dump you. Hahaha

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man City & PSG can go out and spend £60m on a bench player without selling a player, Liverpool can’t.
And Liverpool make all the money that is spent, the others do not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Man City didn't used to be able to spend 60m on a bench player either. It took a few years of spending before they reached that point. You'll get there too, don't worry about that.

You've started outspending them though. So you can't claim some kind of underdog victory over them if you do win the league this season.

Henderson was £15m not £20m.
Robertson was £8m not £10m.
