We do, well I certainly do as I've seen it many times. The Salah incident was a perfect example. The defender was holding him for about ten seconds and the referee didn't give the penalty until Salah went down.

I understand your point around players deceiving the referee and agree with it but like I say, it's the lesser of two evils for me and it's up to the referee and next season, VAR will help, to make the decision.

I’d agree yesterday Salah went down because he was fed up of being held.

But the one against Newcastle I believe he just felt a touch and went over.

As you know, I disagree. He was pulled back from behind, slowing him down and putting him at a disadvantage. He was therefore entitled to go down. The defender had a look of resignation also when he did it.

But I’m afraid the actual law of holding doesn’t back you up imo.

Don’t wish for it to become a silly row but you really do need to look up the law. It is possible to have a little pull at someone and not foul them - if you look at the criteria for holding I don’t think it was satisfied at all.

I have looked up the law. Do you think we debated for pages and pages on this subject and I didn't look up the law? I do think it was satisfied as did the referee and the former referee I quoted.
